Hey Sal,..on typical asphalt shingles you want 3%-4% hitting the surface. 3% will work on a slighter pitch,..on a steeper pitch use a little stronger to counteract the less time the mix will see on the roof. Learning good spray technique is as valuable to anything else you will learn.

I don't use anything to cover the smell of money. Dawn was a long time standby for many,.and I'm still sure some use it,..just won't readily talk about it anymore on a public board. But, Dawn was used as a surfactant, not as a way to hide the smell. You can mix regular Dawn with bleach for our purposes, the effect is minimal, and if used right away it won't weaken the mix. There are a handful of other products out now that many prefer,...I still prefer TSP, SH, and water. Best mix there is,...TSP has be forgotten due to mixing issues and some places prohibit sales. I don't like a soapy mix,..TSP adds cleaning power without all the soap bubbles. I'm the oddball here though,..so just keep reading and you'll discover many choices of surfactant,..from Tide, Purex, Dawn, Spic and Span,..etc...

Use the search and join the RCIA. You will not regret it. Both of the guys that replied before me helped me in the past. If you look through my previous posts you'll find most of the answers you are looking for. Do not hesitate. Pay the fee and join. The people here are awesome. I use tsp on tile roofs. To mix it, I use my pressure washer with a soap tip to add the water to my mix. 100 psi does the trick.
