Yesterday when I was cleaning a roof I noticed that my customers front door had some streaks from the SH I was using to clean the roof. Has this ever happened to anyone? Does anyone cover doors? Should my groundcrewman just done a better job of watering the door? Thanks

Yes, and it can happen a lot, if you are not careful to pay real close attention to stuff like this!
Stained Wooden Doors are a real red flag item, and should be covered, or at the very least, kept wet when that part of the roof is being sprayed.
The roof cleaning chemicals can streak paint, and can even change the color of the paint!
Thank you so much for this advice. I bought him a $50.00 Home Depot Gift Card and he was okay with it. There won't be a next time as I will cover doors from now on. Also thanks for the advice with the air diaphragm pump. It works great.
You have to be careful... I had this happen to a 3k dollar composite door... The house wash left crazy stains all over this door.. The home owner came out and told us about it... I said well its already ruined can I try to fix it? They said yes and I sprayed the entire door with a mix and it looked better than ever.. Turned out it was just really dirty and they were very happy... Most of the time if your cleaning a roof over a deck or composite deck especially, you can expect to have to hit the deck with a mix also.. Even when wetting the composite decks, the spray immediately spots them..

Hi Lee! Once, I was up on a very steep flat tile roof that was slippery as all hell. It was windy, and the ground man did not see the plastic blow off the 25,000 french Doors on this 3 million dollar homes roof we were cleaning.
The mix spotted these 25,000 doors all up. Fearing the worst, I approached the Tampa Football Player Customer, and told him what we did.
He yelled for his wife to come look at what we did, and then looked at me. To my total surprise he said " Chris, it was not your fault, and my wife and I never liked this door anyway, time for some new ones" !
He was a HUGE Lineman, big and mean looking, I feared the worst, and was totally shocked.
We got lucky that day, but expensive french doors like that usually must be removed to be refinished, and that means big bucks!
