Wow, thats interesting. Quats have value, they are just slow, and commercially designed for roof cleaning they are weak. (All stuff I learned from Chris). I would imagine they would be limited in value because of the amount used. I suppose un-rinsed it could be considered an inhibiter to future growth?

Benzalkonium Chloride is an excellent, more long term, inhibitor, and so is Borax! In FACT, that is the whole IDEA behind Applesauce!
TSP and Borax are not super water soluble, the way Ammonyx is. Applesauce depends on the Borax Biocide getting "trapped" in the TSP, and remaining on the roof longer then a more water soluble liquid surfactant.
Chris, I believe the EPA is trying to ban TSP. I know that a lot of dishwashing machine detergents have removed it. Even at my Home Depot, they sell Tri S Phosphate (PF). Guess what the (PF) means .... Phosphate Free.
Do a search, there are many people that arent to happy with the removal of it frome detergents because the cleaning properties without TSP are sub-standard.

It is true, for sheer cleaning power, TSP is almost w/o equal! But, you can still buy it in Bulk from Florida Chemical Supply on Chelsea street, here in Tampa.
It is very very cheap, and yes, they ship it all over
All Dawn does as a surfactant to S H is turn it back into a vapor. Haven't you noticed any fumes? or STRONGER more irritating scent? it says right on the back of the damn bottle DO NOT ADD WITH BLEACH because it turns it back into chlorine gas! In fact, it can be more HARMFUL on asphalt shingles and etching windows! Now add rubbing alcohol and you now have a Chlorine bomb!
