Chris Over at WCRA & PWRA thinks its a Scam? I'll Post the article
Life itself is a "scam", and there are good scams, and bad scams.
Sure, the BBB is a scam, but it is a good one (because people believe in it), and it gets you work.
I get at least a lead every two weeks or so from the BBB. When they start out by saying "I found you through the BBB, and need to get my roof cleaned", I know I am dealing with a quality minded customer, and not a price shopper.
Plus the backlink AND the Citation (look that one up) Juice it carries will more then pay for itself alone, for what it will do for your website and Google+ Local Listing.
Truth be told, Angies List is the scam.
Here is how easy it is to scam (buy yourself a super service award) an Angies List!
You join the list, then pay for 5 friends memberships(these memberships are 1/2 priced for members, only 25 dollars each). These friends all write fake good reviews about your business, and Presto, your business gets the Super Service Award!
Plus, on Angies List, we have Pressure Washers who buy a roof cleaning pump, and have little roof cleaning experience, able to carry their "good reviews" into roof cleaning that they had from Pressure Washing!
Chit, we have some freaking window cleaners here who have "Super Service Awards" from Angies list out cleaning roofs, and Angies List displays their "glowing reviews" under roof cleaning, despite the fact they are newcomers to the roof cleaning business!
I am not a WCRA & PWRA member, so I have not seen Chris's article.
Please post it, and tell Chris he is most welcome to come here and discuss it, if he likes
Been a member since July 2005. Yes it is a scam, but most customers have bought into it. I hear that if you drop out your rating falls...
Yes, you will lose a heavy duty back link, as well as a powerful local citation!
But this can happen when you lose a valuable backlink anywhere. I have lost really dynamite backlinks on Blogs and directories when the owners decided to go from DO FOLLOW to NO FOLLOW
The BBB is trusted by Google, and most search engines, and thus it is one of the most important backlinks you can have.
I have seen websites go from page 4 of the search results, all the way to the top of page 2, with JUST a BBB backlink powering them.
The effect on your Google+ Business Page is often even more dramatic. Google relies on signals called Citations, to prove to it you really are located where you say you are!
If your address and company name are the same on the BBB Website as they are on your Google+ Business page, hold on tight!
The BBB Link will almost always assure your Google+ local roof cleaning page will be found.
Panda has changed the SEO Game. What you now want are less links, of higher quality.
You also want high page rank, relevant links, vs low page rank links.
Here is a shameless plug - now, even more so then before the Panda Updates, you want to post in the open sections of BOTH RCIA Forums, as much as possible.
Both RCIA Forums are relevant (dedicated to roof cleaning) and high page rank (page rank 3)!
Ideally, you want longer posts (100 words or more)
Those little "That's Cool", or "How do you do that" one line posts aint gonna get it anymore, with the new Panda Rules!
