Hi guys first post so hello to you all.

The problem i am having is i am hearing all about the gain you guys are using and cant source that in UK.

I have found the ingredient list for P&G UK LIQUID SOAP and it includes Lauramine oxide which i believe is ammonyx lo but after reading posts from Chris and others i believe there may be other chemicals in the make up that will have a negative effect on th SH.

I have listed the ingredients that i have found

  • Aqua

• S laureth sulphate
• Alcohol denat
• Lauramine oxide
• C9-11 pareth-8
• S chloride
• 1,3-Cyclohexanedimethanamine
• PPG (polypropylene glycols)
• Dimethyl aminoethyl methecrylate/hydroxyproply acrylate copolymer cirate
• Parfum
• Geraniol
• Limonene
• Colourant

We need to know the percentages of the other chemicals! Lauramine Oxide is Ammonyx biggrin

Yes, simply get a clear glass of bleach outside, and dump some in, then observe!

If it emits gas, or starts reacting, it is not compatible.

Do NOT breathe the fumes!

Thanks..After reading a bit more i believe its the ethanol content thats important and when i looked on the msds there was no mention at all of ethanol or related products(i think!). I have sent an email to p&g to double check but thats good to know re the bleach.
On a different topic altogether i am trying to look into a way of keeping the roof solution warm in a 65 gal container for when the temps drop down as they do in scotland around october and wondered what the guys in the north use?

Many Thanks

Chris ..I just couldnt let the search for a uk product similar to gain go!!...I have narrowed it down to one product and have found compositions of the ingredients and percentages and wondered if you would be kind enough to give me your opinion.

I appreciate that the ethanol content stated at 1 to 5 % is stronger than gain at .1 to 1 % . Does this break down the SH at a faster rate and would it matter a huge amount if the mixture was to be used that day or indeed that job. The gain works out v expensive for me as you can imagine with shipping costs etc and just trying to find a handy alternative.

This product is also made by Procter and gamble. Here is what i could find.

S laureth sulphate 20/30 %
lauramine oxide 5/10%

alcohols c9-11 ethoxylated 1-5 %
Amines C10-15 Alkyldimethyl N-Oxides 5-10%
Ethanol 1_5%
S O Alkyl Ethoxsulph.fat.alc(aeo.6) 20-30%

Many Thanks

Yes, basically. Use the mix that day on that job, and you will be fine.
