WordPress Brute Force Attack

In case you have not heard a WordPress attack is happening. WordPress sites are being hacked, especially ones with the username "admin". I am not an alarmist and really wish this was not happening but also cannot ignore these warnings so here is what needs to be done.

Things to keep your site secure:

• Run the latest WordPress version
• Keep plugins up to date
• Delete any themes or plugins not being used
• If you have an username "admin" delete it (steps in Greencastle article or call me)
• Additional Security Options

• CloudFare
• Security Plugins

If a botnet was on your computer you would know it and you would have to get it cleared from bluehost. You would see a blocked IP.

A botnet on personal computers are running scans trying to get into WordPress sites with the login "admin".
