I have tested Spray&Forget and Wet&Forget and that oldest one - like M1 or something? on 3 sections of my back roof, that have nothing but woods behind me and after 4-6 months, the test areas were partially clean, but nothing like our method comes out. The M1 was the worst, mainly made it yellowish, on my tan shingled roof. The other 2 after 6 months, were just uneven in cleanness. I dumped a cup of roof mix in the middle of each and it was day and night!

That stuff is so expensive, I doubt you'd make much, charging what this guy is asking?

Hmmmmm, I see he includes tile roofs too-much harder work! "$249! This coupon covers homes up to 2,500 sq ft, larger homes may be serviced for an additional $15 per 100 sq ft. This safe and effective service cleans tile or shingle roofs!"
Why people want to do large amounts of cheap work, instead of smaller amounts of properly priced work never ceases to amaze me?
I remember back about 15 years ago, I was painting a house exterior for $2700.00 + Materials right down the street from me {I'm a licensed painter too-I just don't like it, so I seldom do any}
It was a 4 day job-not full days-so maybe 25-27 hours.
2 days into that job, a guy starts painting the house next door [didn't bother to have it pressure washed and it was chalky] he came over and talked to me and asked how long I had been in business as a painter, I said since 1978. He said he was on his 8th year. { So, he should be well established }
We talked and he told me "I just charge $15.00 an hour plus material, haven't changed in 8 years" HE WAS PROUD OF THAT!
I told him I was getting $2700.00 + paint and it would probably take me 30 hours tops [it didn't] He said "Ya, but I stay busy all the time!"
I said "maybe, but there's a big difference between my $90.00 an hour and your $15."
I said "you have to do 6 jobs to my one!"
He was a nice guy, but apparently not too bright?
I see road side signs "ROOFS CLEANED $150.00" all the time. It's illegal to put signs on county property, so I take them and throw them away, in my local area. They go right back up though.
IDIOTS!

 Trees are the ENEMY of time release roof cleaning, for they stop the force of the rain. A roof must be in the clear for the rain to supply enough force to bust the dead algae loose.

Just killing the algea is not enough, you need something to "loosen" it up a little, make it easier for the rain to remove.

 

There's no trees near my roof. Like Mike said, I can't even imagine anyone paying me a dollar, if I leave and the roof is not perfectly clean!
That's the one good thing, that will keep these time release products from ever pushing us out.
If they ever come up with a truly "Environmentally Friendly, Go Green, Instant roof cleaning chem, that won't stress or harm plants, I will be the 1st to try it. But it has to be better than our roof mix first and I don't foresee that happening!

A guy was offering the same price for a roof cleaning up here last year and he cleans the same way we do. It was an angies list add...$249 any roof....Removal of black algae extra! Gotta love it.........

Time Release = Snake Oil = No Competition

I would tell a potential customer that they can wait up to 90 days to possibly see the full results of a shingle roof cleaning or they can go with us and see 90% results before we roll up our hoses and 100% results after the first good rain event.

90 days??? Com'on ... homeowners are smarter then that and want to see instant roof cleaning results!
