Chances of prices dropping instantly dropping are less when taught how to price jobs, and I don't see the gain of buying time by necessitating posts. Competition is coming to everyone irregardless of post requirements. Anywho to each his own. I wouldn't mind more competition that cleaned the right way vs. all the pressure washers.
This is a super fast growing business.
If you don't throw it all in someones lap instantly, most will just keep pressure washing or doing whatever it was they were doing, when the thought of becoming a roof cleaner hit them one day.
If you had my competition, I guarantee you would think hard, before you added anyone local to your competition.
And "vs. all the pressure washers." IT WILL BE ALL THE PRESSURE WASHERS AND OTHERS. IT IS HERE MUCH OF THE TIME. THEY JUST LEARN THAT THEY CAN CLEAN ROOFS IN 1/5th THE TIME.
But, as you said "to each his own"

Keep Your Friends Close, And Your Competitors Closer!
Competition is inevitable,welcome to America
That's a good phiosophy! " Keep Your Friends Close, And Your {ENEMIES-as the actual saying goes} Competitors Closer!"
But creating more {Enemies} Competitors close by is not common sense.
And absolutely, "Competition is inevitable" but I'm not going to help create it in my locale!
We have both made posts about how our competition has cut our local pricing. I remember one of your posts a couple of years ago said "I am lucky to get $50.00 to do a driveway anymore" And other posts about competitors you trained, now badmouthing you or cutting prices. Of course, you and I both know that a lot of local competition, unquestionably cuts prices and the quantity of work we have. It's only because we have been in business so many years, with large customer bases, that we are not hurt too badly.
Also, again, I feel that you created RCIA as an institute, to teach roof cleaning over a period of time, with newbees spending time here, making posts and reading - not to show up, ask for help, and get hands on training and leave.
If all of us here, followed that method, maybe charging, as mentioned, $400 - $500 for a hands on training, then RCIA would just become a place to stop in and look for "You Local $500.00 Trainer"
Like anyone else, if that opportunity was there for me, back when I first got started, I'd have gladly just paid the $500 and that would be that.
In fact, that is how I started non-pressure roof cleaning. I came upon 2 guys doing just that! I had never seen it before. I was trying to "Invent" the method, but was failing. These guys showed me everything and in about 20 minutes, during their lunch break, the instantly started Chuck Bergman Non Pressure Roof Cleaning. I had all the same equipment they had in 2 weeks! So, I learned it the hard way-UP UNTIL- they handed it to me on a platter in 1991!
Then perfecting and modifying was a long hard road, until I came here, read and posted like crazy, learned even more by far than I already knew, made my 100 posts, got certified on the phone by you and I am still modifying and learning, thanks to RCIA.
I hope it stays a learning place and not just a "Quick $500.00 training pick up place"
Well, I gotta get! SEEYA MY FRIEND and FRIENDS!
This is all just conversation on a subject. Everyone here now that [you know who is gone] I consider my friends and we all look at things differently. { Of course, I'm right though!! LOL - LOL -

I feel the need to add my 2 cents to this. All I want to say is I'm just getting back into roof cleaning after working over a year working for Verizon. I read posts on the rcia board for over a year before I ever cleaned my first roof. I wanted to know everything I could before I put someone's home under my care. I learned a ton of info from posts and talking to a lot of you. I'm ashamed to say I am not yet a paid member but it is coming very soon, its the least I can do for all I've learned. Anyway I know I'm probably repeating a lot of what's been said but nothing teaches like getting out there and doing it. If someone isn't dedicated enough to put the time and effort into reading and learning then they probably won't put in the proper time and effort into their business.
