He was asking to be trained, and was willing to pay for it. If giving you guys the chance to make money is "putting you on the spot", then excuse the heck out of me.
With all do respect Chris, there was no mention by the new member of any fee. He stated "Chris Tucker said you possibly could be a mentor" Even though you told him to contact Art he went and contacted others using the same statement. A PM from you on it would have been a nice heads up. Not to be mean to Art, but you instructed a new premium member to contact Art for "mentoring/hands on training. Art is a great guy but he's a "Guest "and is not certified, so it makes no sense why you picked a non premium, non certified member to handle the newest premium member? Unless really nothing is making any sense?

2 reasons Charlie,
#1 - The newbie and Art are both siding contractors
#2 - He was the first one who came to my mind
Art was once a member, so it is not like he is incompetent.
Sometimes, when you guys are up North, and w/o work because it is still cold, it is hard for you to imagine how Busy I actually am.
I went out for a few hours yesterday, and when I came back I had 14 new messages!
Plus, it is tax time, one of my trucks are down with a blown head gasket, etc, etc, etc.
ARE you saying Art Oliveri would have been incompetent to handle a newcomer Charlie ?
"Glad your busy Chris but we started here as well so we are a little busy as well. I and many others are a premium member because along with paying to be a member the benefits are fantastic so we have been told. I am certified because RCIA and yourself Chris state if you aint certified you are just an average roof cleaner!
"Art was once a member, so it is not like he is incompetent". He is a guest, he made his decission not to member up and he should be thought of as a guest, not a go to guy!"
"ARE you saying Art Oliveri would have been incompetent to handle a newcomer Charlie ?" If I am reading the RCIA hand book and post made by the powers that be, only being a guest and not certified would make you INCOMPETENT by RCIA guidlines to mentor anyone in roof cleaning!
So yes I am saying he is Incompetent under YOUR guidelines!
So if you,Chris Tucker....the HEAD of RCIA,from your lips are saying ART Oleveri { who I think is a great guy } is competent to handle and train someone in ROOF CLEANING for the RCIA then I demand that your written statement be CERTIFICATION ENOUGH to immediately change Art To CERTIFIED!
Otherwise there is surley somthing wrong here, and alot of us got ripped off $130 bucks when a GUEST is seen as EQUAL to a PREMIUM CERTIFIED MEMBER!

Charlie, full roof cleaning training is NOT possible, by just watching someone, anyone, certified or not, for a day.
That was all the newcomer asked me for, to just WATCH someone close to him, for a day.
He did NOT ask me for full training of at least a few weeks, or I would have had other suggestions for him.
Though Art Oliveri is not Certified, his level of roof cleaning knowledge is much more then any newcomer has.
I see no harm in a newcomer watching a veteran roof cleaner, do you ?
This has got to be the best training video the RCIA has. Chris H. should watch it and get the same result as on the job train. Lets hear it for Charlie at his best. This is a great video, Pats Pot belly and All!
I agree Art's knowlede is more, but I guess you are missing my point or myself and many others are confused about RCIA. I don't understand how you could mention a guest over any certified member and think thats ok. As a paying member I am flabbergasted that the owner of this site would think first of a non, uncertified member, and after all the certification B.S. think its ok if you have some roof cleaning knowledge, it makes no sense. Sorry mam but our certified Mechanic is out on lunch, but loyd here has seen him do brakes a couple of times and will have you done in a jiffy! Someone should fix this because it is broken......not back peddle!

Hi Pat, Just wondering.
Was there any Certified roof cleaners near this guy, to send him to? { I don't know? } Also, I think Chris sent him to Art because of nearness and both being siding contractors or something?
Then, I guess the guy took it upon himself to contact others=not Chris T's fault. I understand the thinking on suggesting only a certified member, but this is just a 1 time thing and the guy told Chris he was willing to pay for personal training. Personally, I'd rather see him make the kind of effort the rest of us made and normally Chris T would too. Like Chris T said, this is the end of our busiest time of year in Florida-this month- and Chris has a broke down truck and another to get going. I think this might be a good time to give him a break. If this was a regular thing happening, I'd stand in protest too, but it's a one time [perhaps mistake?] Not done perfectly, but hey, even I made a mistake once- let me rephrase that, almost made a mistake-I'm still perfect!

I like the video, however, it is always best to start at the back of the roof, and pull all your hose up on the roof, instead of fighting your hose, as he is doing at the start of the video.
I would have put my ladder up at the front of the house, got on the roof, and carefully pulled my hose all the way to the farthest away spot from the ladder, on the back of the roof, then pulled up another 5 feet or so of hose, for good measure. Then, I would have started at the back bottom of the roof, and worked my way up.
Because he started on the roof at the front of the house, his hose was on the ground
I am not a fan of his method of spraying either. But he has been with me from the start, never late, never complains and gets along well with people..he can do it his way I have no problems with him.
Chuk I dont care who the guy was sent to....I just think it was handled wrong and showed some flaws here.

Huh! Very observant and very true! I automatically do the same as you said. Could be because it was a video that he didn't do things as usual???
Could be he didn't wash the back of the roof! If you noticed in the begining the house was for sale. The home owner could have just been looking for curb appeal.
I think Chris meant the front upper back. The roof has the same pitch in the back so unless you want to walk the ridge and spray down. Just the front wash washed using "Tundra "hose wich is very flexable and lite even in sub zero weather. I don't mind his spot...you just use less spraying down.

I think he does wash the back of the roof, later in the video.
I teach people how to clean roofs, how they run their business is up to them. But, speaking for my company and me, we will NEVER ever do a partial cleaning, w/o at least treating the "clean part" of the roof with a light spray.
Therefore, we would have automatically headed straight for the back of that roof, and got our hose all up on the roof, instead of fighting it, no matter how "light" it supposedly is.
I really like the guy running his mouth (doing the talking) in the video! He has real sales potential!
I got 380 for doing the front roof only, never did the rear..just one side of the shed roof as well. He can approach the roof his way...how ever he is comfortable....I would like him to have sprayed up to the ridge letting it run down you waste less. I would have cleaned the entire roof for 525....if it needed it, with the shed of course.

Thanks Art! I have trained hundreds of roof cleaners, over many years. Unless someone is afraid of heights, I can pretty much show anyone how to clean a roof. But, only a few can I train to be super roof cleaning salesmen, like myself.
It takes a "gift of gab", like the guy in the video has! I am very very impressed with that guy Art, because he can Hustle!
Like Master Yoda said about young Luke Skywalker "The Force Is Strong In That One".
Is he an employee of Charlies Roof Cleaning, and is he still with Charlie ?
If he is, and he ever plans on coming here to Florida, I would love to spend some time with him, and show him what I know about selling roof cleaning.
No extra charge, of course.
The RCIA is a "Labor of Love" for me, and not a "Money Thing"
I enjoy helping people succeed in the roof cleaning business.
My roof cleaning company often makes more in 2 weeks, then I make off the RCIA Forums in a year.
I do not "nickle and dime" RCIA Members to death.
The 129.00 membership fee includes free time with me, one on one. It also includes my help with training the employees of RCIA members.
