 It will "work", but will reduce your pressure and flow quite a bit. Still, any air pump will not "burn up" with really small hose, no worries.

Be very careful! small 3/8 hose is easy to slip under shingles, and rip the fuk out of them!

Do you REALLY need 300 feet of hose ? If you cut 50 feet off the 300 foot length, it will not be quite as restrictive.
