I would use them and put a piece of rubber between them.

Mike they have all size steel fuel tanks at Tractor Supply. Theyre not cheap. Not sure if they have small like 2gal.

a vanguard engine with a fuel pump. and electric start! ooooh its gonna be nice to get this on the trailer. The only real estate left on trailer is the fender. So it has to be a small gas tank

Strap it down of course. Enigines get mounted with rubber feet, but why a gas tank, and how???

Looks like that tank is a bottom feed. you will need to build a stand for it, so you have room to run the hose from the tank to the motor.
