Talk about a slap in the face!! You want to listen to the BOD tapes to refresh your memory?
Good luck with that decision!!!
I think I will delete my account.
Just "thinking out loud" Gary, and asking the Guys who they want to replace you, trying to get some ideas.
Now is the time to "refresh my memory", and for all members to speak up, good and bad, about the choice of your replacement.
You will not be easy to replace, and you did an excellent job.
I wish my health were better, and I had the energy I once had.
But, replacing you could not have come at a worse time for me. Let's just leave it at that.
And, any "slap in the face" towards you, or anyone else, on who the guys want to replace you, is totally unintentional.
I have sooo much going on in my life, at the moment, I needed all this like a hole in the head!
I pretty much stayed out of all the past BOD stuff. Politics are just not my thing. Never have been, and never will.
I may be wrong, but I had NO part in causing this to happen. Sorry your idea blew up in your face, especially since they have not been back to "visit".

I think it's a good idea Chris, but feasibility may be a little tough, having instructors within range of alot of "wanna be's" I think people would just forgo the certification and go roof cleaning the way we did. I mean I don't know...I think it's a tough road to get a certification recognized to where people will go through much effort to get it,..especially when you can do the actual work without it,..no law requires it.
Jeff
Well Jeff, one reason we have machine guns is if one bullet don't kill someone, maybe another one will. When selling roof cleaning, the more bullets we have to shoot, the better. Here in Tampa, one of THE most competitive areas of the USA for roof cleaning, my RCIA Certification allows me to get jobs, and here is the proof!
Google does not Lie, and this screen shot clearly shows people are searching for the RCIA by NAME !
You see Jeff, I am expensive, LOL. So, customers are going to the RCIA Forum, as this screen shot shows, in hopes of finding another certified roof cleaner to beat my prices!
I have sent plenty of work to Chuck Bergman, and just sent Kim a job as well. Nearly all customers who have asked me to send them a roof cleaner in their areas, have asked me for a Certified roof cleaner!
There is no WAY to fake this Jeff. Google only alllows one vote per IP per day. Even IF I did this search myself every day, that would not be enough to fake the result!
This screen shot is a little old, but it is STILL showing the same results today! People in Tampa are still searching for the roof cleaning institue, by NAME !

I had no delusions that any of them (except Art Oliveri), and maybe Bruce Sullivan, would ever return to the prolific posters they once were at the RCIA. All of them, IMHO, were once valuable members here, who each contributed a lot to the Forum, in thir own respective ways.
I did learn that you are not as forgiving a person as I am
It totally took me by surprise you felt so strongly that the simple return of people who were once our friends (and who also have many friends here on the forum) would send you into such an extreme position.
Our Customers (the members of the RCIA), very much like Art Oliveri and Bill Booze. I will say that IMHO, most of the members are happy Bill and Art CAN now post here once more.
Many like Bruce Sullivan as well.
So, I guess that leaves Dave Westerman as my "mistake", and looking back, there was some fallout over my decision to allow him to post here again.
Dave helped me build this place, there was some controversy surrounding the deision to Ban him, and consider this ?
Has anyone ever considered that Dave Owns the URL Roof Cleaning Institute. Com ?
Remember, we have a NEW Forum coming online shortly. It would have been really nice to have Our URL back you know ?
I must admit, I wished to reopen the lines of communication with Dave for several reasons, and to say that getting our URL Back was not a BIG consideration in allowing Dave to return would be a Lie.
However, it was a secondary consideration! Not only was Dave a close friend of mine, he is a new forums best friend!
FEW, if ANY human beings, are capable of generating anywhere near the fresh, roof cleaning related CONTENT Dave Westerman can!
Due to health and personal reasons, Dave left the world of roof cleaning. A world he loved so much. It was my hope to light a spark in the old roof cleaner, and that would have been Good for Dave IMHO, and good for the new forum.
Gary, I like and respect you very much, but WE must always remember that members here PAY money to be here. They are our CUSTOMERS. IF we do not make them happy and listen to their requests, they will leave!
Sometimes, we must put aside our personal feelings, to make our Customers (The Members) happy.
Take AC for example ? AC was my friend of a very very long time. When the shit went down over AC, I was forced to make a choice.
A choice that was not easy for me to make!
A Choice that forever damaged my friendship with AC.
Now, the choice to allow some people to return that the members like, has cost me YOU.
I do NOT "enjoy" making these hard decisions Gary.
I did learn that you are not as forgiving a person as I am
You know as well I do, Bill is the only one I had a problem with. Last January I was subjected to 3.5 days of constant lies, accusing me of being a thief, deleting BOD tapes, banning members, and a whole lot of other BS lies. Then he turns around and "borrows" the cert plan we were working on an runs with it for his own personal gain. Anybody that was here "should" remember that, but some have "selective" memory. Why would anybody want that kind of person back on here when they can go other places and read his posts.
So I guess I'm not as forgiving as you when it comes to allowing "borrowers" back for a second try.
There are some who are more vocal about Dave coming back. What happened in that case in NO way involved RCIA, but they are dead set about him coming back. Yet when someone directly "borrows something from the RCIA, they want to welcome him back with open arms. Not the way I roll, sorry
PS--Art I am moving forward so I don't need your comments, thanks

I do not understand HOW Bill Booze could or would "Run" with our Certifications that he took from here Gary, for his own Gain ?
I hate to sound Ignorant about this, but I am. HOW is Bill Booze benefiting from Certifications ? He is not the RCIA. Are you saying he is Certifying people for the UAMCC in some Roundtable class he teaches, and getting paid for it, at our expense ?
I do not keep track of all Roundtables, but I have heard that Bill did teach some classes at NCE Roundtables, but I was unaware they had ANY Certifications connected to them.
Please, enlighten me Gary, about this, ok ?
This is the first I have heard about these allegations!

I remember something got said. Rumor. Bill took the 50 pt standard. Shared that with another org.
Maybe he did most of it???
It took forever to get done. AC had helped with that too, I remember?

IF this is true (and I do not know for sure it is), it is an example of why it could be a conflict of Interest for Bill (who is a UAMCC Board Member) to return in a leadership role (as Gary's Replacement) to the RCIA.
And IF NCE allowed, and benefitted from, stolen RCIA Material to be presented and Sold for Non RCIA Roof Cleaning Certification Purposes, that would be sad indeed. (and I do not know for sure they did)
It is said "No Man Can Serve 2 Masters" in the Bible. I am not real religious, but I have found this to be true.
A Majority of Members here, at the time, had some real problems with AC Lockyer being a Vendor, as well as being on the Board Of Directors of the RCIA.
If memory serves me correctly, Bill Booze had ties he did not try to hide from the PWNA. Some people felt that was one reson he wanted pressure washing to be acceptable to the RCIA Standards ?
This is a prime example of conflict of interest.
I think I am pretty flexible, about many things, but the use of a presure washer on a roof is not one of them!
Well I feel certain that some of these posts on here tonite will re-fuel the drama from the past, and I don't feel like re-living it again. So in an effort to help RCIA move forward and the past be forgotten I am giving my all for this purpose by deleting my account and letting this organization heal.

Gary
I see no need for that Gary, and besides, you will lose all your links buddy, IF you delete all your posts
MOST likely scenario is this Gary, I will take over your duties myself. The New Forum will greatly simplify keeping track of memberships, a job you did heroically well Then, as far as certification goes, we will move away from watching videos and answering questions, to actual on the job performance, where it really counts!
WE need not worry ever again, about the theft of our materials and tests, etc, etc. Only our Best Certified Roof Cleaners, will have the ability to make more Certified Roof Cleaners, as it should be, and really should have been, from day one!
Really, I see no "Drama". It is said that Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
The whole IDEA to raise the bar for roof cleaners by offering Certification CAME from the RCIA. This is well known in the Industry.
Changing the RCIA Certification requirements to actual on the roof testing, will insure that no copy cat roundtable or Internet only certification need ever worry us.
Sadly when we piss of "talent" and they leave, their talent isn't just "Shelved"...they typically find a place where their talents can be used and appreciated. I'm just tossing this out there, with the thought that we may need to develop new talent, rather than hang our hopes on old guys coming back and stepping up. Sometimes the bitter taste thats been given to someone lasts a long time.
+1 ... Great post Ray! In the business world, when a partnership goes sour, it is damn near impossible to go forget the damage that has been done. I think it's a great idea to open the doors back up to old talent but as Ray said, do not forget the new talent. Also as Dave stated, a free forum is the way to go and I whole heartedly believe if you go back to that format, a stream of fresh talent, threads and posts will follow .

Hey Chris, don't get me wrong, I have "RCIA Certified" on my business card,.. so obviously I do think when you can claim a certification it is a big plus.

Hey Art, yea,I always shut my laptop down around 7PM,..and then all the good stuff begins to happen,Ha,Ha,..I get up in the morning and check things out.
Chris: I'm going to give you a call today and remind you how/why bill was "suspended" from the board. Bill always wanted the RCIA TO BE THE SOLE CERTIFIER of roof cleaners, but then he was dumped by RCIA.
As far as the 50 point standard being "stolen", frankly lots of people worked on those standards. I don't think they were really owned or authored by "one" person. I know I made several recommendations that were incorporated into the standards.
Had we "as the RCIA" taken steps to Copywrite or legally protect the 50 points, we may have a leg to stand on as far as saying that doc was stolen and enforcing its use in other places. It was not, so we can't.
