I have only just become a premium member and while I don't know or want to know what went on here in the past, I have to say you seem like a really nice guy and thanks for your help over the last few days.
Gary, thought is was time to stop back in after all this time. It appears you have had many hangovers.
Taking a break from all the forums for the last year has been healthy for me. My business has grown ten fold by using all the forum time to build my business.
Given I haven't been here I don't have a position, but I remember well all the good work you did.
Sometimes we all have to be like a duck and just let the water roll off your back.
All is great. Have really gone to the cedar shakes cleaning business. Took alot of time and effort but I finally figured it out. LOL I remember being the first to get certified on here. Is that still going on? I am about to start cedar shakes certifying, meaning the type of solution and soft wash process needed, much different from other roof types. That mix won't work, just will bleach them out. Also, how to market to these home owners directly. In this economy the last thing a cedar shakes home owners wants is replacement cost. I get weekly e-mails from all over the country wanting to get their cedar roof cleaned. Given the money to be made I have traveled to many parts of the Midwest. At present I have over 7,000 leads within 150 miles of Des Moines, Iowa and that is about 20% of the locations we know of. I have trained two other roof cleaning services to network with and will be subing out the work to them. Before I'd get 20 to 30 jobs but it would take me to long to clean, with a network of cleaners we can go in an area and clean them within two weeks and move on to the next. Now working with HOA's will only build the network. I am looking to add another three or four cleaners throughout the midwest to work with next spring. One day I'll do all the closing and just sub the work out.
I am now building a web site that will explain everything to become a cedar roof cleaner and will put that out nationally, given I already have national branding for such. Though the training/certification will be limited to a radis for each cleaner so they also have their own locations also.
Stay tunded, it isn't if it is going to happen but when. Looks like early next spring. Details coming shortly.
It's not good that the issues on this forum are affecting your personal life. Your family should come ahead of any of us. Good luck to you and thank you for all that you have done for this forum.

I am in Bruce I have alot of cedar around me. Let me know when you are ready!
I am glad you got some help and that it is working for you. I am sure you did ask, as have "many" others. If I didn't respond it wasn't out of disrespect. Most likely the e-mail got lost given I am on the road alot during the season. I clean about 100 cedar roofs a season plus all the other types of roofs we clean. Anyway, no harm right, you have the process down now. Given AC taught you it is most likely better than my process anyway.
How about sharing some of your jobs i.e. pictures. I'd like to see them. I enjoy cleaning them because not only does it extend the lifespan of the roof but also the results are like art work, wouldn't you agree?
Here are a few I have done. Look forward to seeing yours. Thanks.
Gary, I appricaite everything you do and have done here at thr RCIA! But when a forum starts to effect your family and personal life, I agree whole heartedly, that it is time to make some adjustments. Family comes first.
I really appreciate all the "thank you's" and I am sorry to dis-appoint those of you that wished I would stay or re-consider. For some time now I have felt like I was on a hampster wheel, getting nowhere while running my ass off. Any progress that was made was instantly wiped out by the latest hair up somebody's ass, and the "pile on" atmosphere that is prevelent on here. I felt like RCIA was mine, and loved it as such. With some of the things that have occurrerd on here lately, they do not fit well with my management training where "failure is not an option".
I will still be around as a member, keeping a very low profile, and watching with interest the upcoming wars and confrontations. I will just NOT be involved in them.

Hope everyone has a GREAT holiday season.
PS; I am also de-activating my title of COF
(crabby old fukr)
Maybe I am blind, but I just do not see the same things. I sent Kim and Randy from Presidential a job today, down in her area. I am MUCH too busy to take on any more work!
I have a different vision for the RCIA, a vision of healing, and the return of some members of our past roof cleaning family. Sometimes, people have different ideas, and follow different dreams. Though all of us have our own ideas about the RCIA, what it is, should have, or could have been, does not mean to me that we can't still be friendly.
I want the RCIA to be known as a place where you can have a difference of opinion, and still be welcome, vs a my way or the highway organization.
It has been said that if everyone is always thinking the same, there is not much thinking going on.
Actually, I am excited as all hell, because of the new Forum that will be coming online soon.
I will miss you Gary, and I have not seen one post indicating any member is glad you are leaving.

Gary fortunately we are not robots and most have strong opinions that are voiced. Just because you go to someones house dosent mean that you have to agree with them all the time and kiss their ass.
I agree with free speech, but we all might want to read this and think about what "could" happen.

Chris;
I am real sorry if I came on as a "my way or the highway" type person. I have stated before that all I wanted to do was create peace and harmony on the RCIA. We all know that discipline was a rare commodity on here and when I simply started enforcing the rules that everyone agreed to, we enjoyed over 10 months of peace. Now it seems like all that work is being thrown out the window under the premise of "healing and difference of opinion freedom." I do, and always have believed that when you visit anyones "house" you respect their rules and property and don't cause any damage. If you don't like the rules, find some other place to hang out. Apparently that is old school thinking and not a popular theme in todays world. Sorry for any hard feelings that occurred while I was trying to make things better for us all.
