This is something that has been bothering me for some time now, and I have to do something about it before it destroys me. When I agreed to help Chris run this forum, it was my intention to help restore peace and build a strong organization relying on my 30+ years of management experience with BellSouth, by simply enforcing the rules that everybody agreed to and some/most dis-regarded. For the most, part, I was successful but hated by many who can't tolerate authority. Every time I thought I was doing well and RCIA was coming back, some crazy worthless idea would cause an uproar amongst members, and somehow I usually got blamed for whatever it was. People who I thought were my friends, false friendship, would turn on me in a heartbeat and run other places and make posts reguarding my character and/or actions. What the purpose was I don't know. It seems like loyalty is a missing trait of this group when you can go other places and see posts that are slamming actions or procedures at RCIA. Perhaps this is just an inherent trait of some classes of people, but it says a lot about their morals and intelligence. Praise here and destroy eleswhere. People come and people go on these forms, but it really bothers me when a large group wants to see (almost beg) some past members who left on their own after "borrowing" some important documents and/or info, to return and try again to destroy our forum like they tried last January. Remember how I got blamed for all of it, and then suffered 3 days of harrasment and lies from a select group? Talking about over-reacting. This is like going to an Itialian restaurant and ordering a hamburger. If you want or need what these "saviors" are offering, go where they hang out and post and let the peace remain here. Is this the "bar room" mentality kicking in again? There are other things that piss me off, but I don't want to bore everybody, especially the ones that think I am doing a terrible job, so I'll just keep this short. I have donated a hell of a lot of time to this group over the years, free, and am getting tired of being grouchy towards my wife and family over the stupid shit that happens on here over trivial matters that get blown out of proportian. I sincerely hope that somebody has enough love for this forum and big enough balls, to step up and help Chris with what needs to be done here. You better have some extra time and some pretty dam thick skin. Good luck.
So with that last statement, I am announcing my resignation as moderator/administrator and returning all my powers on the forum back to Chris. It has been quite a life experience. Thanks for the lesson, everybody.
Yea, Gary, I don't blame you,..I was asked years ago to be a simple moderator,..had no interest in being a bigger part than just contributing in the general conversations. There is no way you can get this many guys together and not have problems here and there, whether it's a bar room or an impersonal online forum. It's the nature of people who run there own business to be the "leaders",..and it traces over onto these forums. Yea, it is petty for things to get so outta' hand that groups begin e-mailing one another behind the scenes,...like those "rebels" were trying to do. I told them to take me off their list of recipients. I've been a part of the childish arguments but am working on not getting wrapped up in that stuff from now on. I just like to be right is all,,Ha,Ha....
P.S. You own business will probably be better now as well.
Thanks gary for everything you have done. I know me and you disagree a lot but I would not be able to do what you have been doing. Now you will have time to build your business.
Thanks for the time and effort, I'm sure you have given much more than you have taken. There is a very successful business in my area that has a "social contract" that they make every employee sign that requires professional behavior and guides them on how to disagree, communicate, and to work together.
Recently cites, large one's, have adopted the contract on council, and in admin to create a positive environment for all. The mayor just renegotiated all of the union contracts and is now stepping down as a hero in Covington Kentucky.
Make membership include an agreement like this and most of this drama would go away, put it in the 50 point standard, which really is good guide in the business, but does not address the board issues.
I think Gary should stay he does a good job. I think we can take a load off his plate by putting some "minor/low level moderators"in place. They can take away the every day nonsense that Gary had to deal with { the B.S. } but would be guided by Gary and of course Chris as to any action. Maybe two or three members { I still vote for the Jersey guys, Myself and Art, Art gives an edge that is needed. But there are plenty on here that could do it I also thin Gutter dog would be a good choice crap I think any premium member on here could be useful. So lets keep Gary and take away some of the crap he deals with. Gary I am not eating or drinking until you return!
As many have mentioned being a moderator is a thankless position. I for one would like to thank you(and other moderators) for all your time and effort for being the cop(s) on the beat. I'm sure it hasn't been easy.
Whatever, your final decision( oh won't you staaaaaaay a just a little bit longer) is after reading these posts I wish you and your family the best.

Hank, I think this video at the 45 second mark says what we are all trying to say ?
OK now that Gary is just a Member! Can we get him band for Harassment? Just kidding Gary. Sit back, Relax and enjoy the party. But Look Forward Dam'It!!
I think you need to go back to a 3 moderator,1 secretary and 1 treasurer based system. Also maybe kick them a free membership with those duties. This way it dosent all fall back on one persons shoulders.
Certainly, Chris. There's no way I could or would want to take over Gary's duties. I know he pulls the weight of several guys. My offer is to help with board moderation.

Gary does more for the RCIA then many will imagine! The New Forum will greatly simplify things, but there are still an awful lot of behind the scenes duties Gary performs, w/o complaint. Gary deserves all of our respect and thanks, for all he has done for the RCIA.
Many here just know him as a "Moderator", but he is far more then just that!
Gary loves the RCIA, and our Opinions differ on how to handle past members who once caused us a lot of Drama, including some past members who flat out insulted him!
This place USED to be known for Drama and constant battles, as much as it is known for roof cleaning instruction and Certification.
Gary likes a place w/o Drama, I guess I am a little more tolerant.
But then, Gary has been flat out personally Insulted by some of these people, and I honestly do not blame him for not wanting some of them back.
In fact, we will of course welcome the people back I have invited. But if any of them disrespect Gary in any way, they will be shown the door!
There is a fine line between freedom of speech, and people who come here with hidden agendas, who are really only here intenionally to make trouble for us. I want all roof cleaners to feel welcome at RCIA, but the minute I detect any troublemakers, they need not worry about Gary, for I will show them the door, quick.
