If there is a good stain on it. As in protective coating. Then you can use an SH solution. If it is just old, grey & mildew then no. You shouldn't use SH. I re-did a customers deck that used a store bought cleaner (SH) the year before. The stain he put on didn't last a year. When I was cleaning it the right way you should have seen all the wood pulp flow off the deck. I'm talking waves of pulp. It was unbelievable. SH should never be used on unprotected wood. There are some companies out their that do it because they are to lazy or not educated about decks and just want to make a quick buck while they are cleaning the siding.

So if you don't use the SH on it what do you use?  Simply PW it with water only, hot water? We tend to use PW only and at times even use are Big Guy depending on the way the grain in the wood is looking.  The SH tends to give a deck a spotted look if your not really careful.  Just looking for a better way and the best way.
