We were called to clean this Sherriff Goslan Roof in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The roof had an ifestation of Lichen and black streaks. Using our soft wash system, we were able to safely rid the shingles of the infestation, bringing the roof back to like new condition. They are asphalt. We have a lot of roofs around here with these type of shingles. They hold up really well. And, I am just starting to see some that showing signs of infestation. This roof is 18 years old.
I have attached a few pictures of a sherrif gosslin shingle cleaning job that we did. While the shingles have a distinctive look, they can be a little challenging to clean. The first thing that we encountered, is that the fine granular nature was more difficult to penetrate the staining. The second thing was the form of the shingle created drain paths where the run off was channeled vs. the typical asphalt shingle. These are not after pics, but our experience is budget a little bit more time and patience with sherrif gosslin shingles and if you can get a little bit more money for the work. One think unique about this house, is it was perfectly situated to have stains on the back and front, something we only see about 10% of the time.
I agree Mike. With the way the shingles are built, they do tend to channel some of the wash. When I do these, I spray very light coats. We did one a couple of weeks ago that took three sprays. Course, it didn't help that it was only in the high 40's. We have had snow already, and the last couple of weeks it only get's to 50 for about an hour if at all.
