an 8hr day with 1/2hr lunch and 2 15min breaks = 7hrs, plus piss/shict and smoke breaks = 6hrs. plus 1/2hr setup + 1/2hr cleanup = 5 hrs minus travel time for a single work site. if doing 5 worksites a day regardless of onetime breaks if you are taking down 5 jobs a day at no less than $200 (lowballin) your the man Dan
the 1st question is how much time is it to go from one jobsite to another? setup etc? the 2nd question is you are always b'tchn you are not makin money but have the biggest sales records????

I am so busy, I don't like it. It's getting on my nerves. Also, when I get booked ahead a month here in Florida, later down the road, I get calls "You were scheduled to do my house on the 29th, but I got someone to do it sooner. Please cancel" And that adds to the confusion! I don't like this crazy busy stuff much.

Same here Brother Chuck! Some customers will book your services for a month down the road. In the meantime, they go shopping, and often have it done. Many don't even have the courtesy to call you either.
The other day, I had one of those, it was 45 miles away! I called the night before, left a message. Our guys called when they were on the way too. We got all the way up in Pasco County, only to find the roof had already been cleaned.
They never answered or returned 2 calls! We drove over 100 miles, and they could not care less.

Dan,
I might be wrong here and I'm always learning. However, I do believe you need to calculate the time you spend advertising, chasing down leads, bookkeeping, networking, maintenance, travel, rain outs, lack of work or upsells, etc and those one hour jobs may turn into 3 hours each worth of time/expenses. It's obvious your business model is different than most of us.

I can see where Dan is coming from. Leave in the morning and come home with a G note or more. It just seems like he's killing himself to do it. Again, I could be wrong. I cleaned a roof today for $350. Its very rare we'll go that low but the house was easy and 10 minutes away. I would clean roofs all day for $350 as long as I had enough calls to carry 4 trucks 5-6 days/week doing 3-4 roofs per day. That would be pretty solid scratch even wit the overhead and rain days. But we just cant do em that cheap. Ive learned not to push the guys. Slow and steady wins the race.
Here's a fun question. If you had the choice to go on like your going, or be granted 40 straight weeks of work consisting of 3 fairly simple roofs per day and 1 roof on Saturday for $350 each. So thats a total of 640 roofs @ $350 each totaling $234,000. I did the long math 3 times and got 3 different answers, thats how smart I am. This is cleaning 3 roofs per day 5 days a week, 1 roof on Saturday, and 3 solid months off. Its up to you how you allocate these funds for labor, materials, and other overhead. Would you take the deal?

Are the 640 roofs handed to me or do I have to work as hard as I do now to get them?
About half my business is pressure washing, so I simply lack the resources at the moment to do $234k. 2013 and 2014 I'll take that deal, after that I'm shooting for the stars!!
