A guy named John - posting as magikman or something, recently hijacked a serious thread on our "Marketing Forum" { Cody is working on my Adwords now }
I "suggest" that if a "Guest" wants to make a post, that a "SHORT" set of posting rules be seen by them as they attempt to post. After viiewing a short list of rules and ettiquite [ ya I know, look who is talking about ettiquitte, heck, if it wasn't for spell check, I would have made up an interesting looking word!
Anyway, a short list. maybe - If Chris and Gary think the idea is of any benefit to RCIA - others could help build a list.
For instance:
#1. No hijacking of topics, you must stay on topic, if you wish to post. Or start your own topic.
#2. No Profanity. Ladies may visit RCIA as well as folks who just plain frown upon bad language.
#3. No fights { That's easy for me to say, now that AC is gone! }
#4. You must fill in your profile information, so we know who we are talking with. Not to do so, is not acting like a "guest"

John - also to further explain the "cold shoulder" you feel you may have received, unfortunately the RCIA has been the victim in the past of guests who have come here masquerading as knowledge seekers, but actually who are certainly pushing their own agenda/product/method. Some of the comments you made early on asking about a competing method/product may have made a few of the members "spider senses" prickle up.
We're actually a very friendly group ( albeit not immune from heated debate) and there is a lifetime of information to be shared and learned here.
Welcome,
Ray
PS. Please fill out your signature line so we can get to know you and you company better!

Too much information? (TMI) before I joined a few years ago, I was getting yelled at about not filling out my sig...
Also, I was driving thru campus today and saw a rig similar to your set up (had tanks, hoses and surface cleaners on the trailer but no wrap on the truck.) Was that you? I was going to stop but there was way too much foot traffic.

Gotcha covered...(sorry Chuck...he started it)
Maybe I should just delete the post?
I will wait until tomorrow and if no one thinkks this is of any value, I will just delete it.
A little surprised, the 2 guys I would have expected to care, to want any forum they belong to be serious and have some reasonable rules for guests, one way or the other, just make jokes.
I'd probably be backing you guys up! Oh well.

Probably the easiest way to handle this is for ALL members refrain from answering any questions or comments, except for "Please fill out your profile before posting, as it is a forum rule". And then don't answer anything, or comment on his post, until he does. He will get tired of talking to himself quickly.,
Hi guys, I see the " hijacking the thred" is still being beaten to death. My "guest" profile is filled out. It was complete before I posted anything on this site. From a business stand point this site seems to have potential for learning something about using sh to clean roofs. All things online about roof cleaning point to this site. Whomever is in charge of the website and promotion of it seem to be spot on. However being one of the marketing targets of the site ( looking in from the outside) I was met with less than a warm welcome. Having spent twenty years in the Nuclear Industry I have seen my share of "hazing" of the new guys so I take it with a grain of salt.
One can only assume the few people I have interacted with thus far put on an air of better professionalism out in the field, otherwise your equipment would just be in your driveway melting from all the leaks that are caused by the chemicals. From what I gather so far Gary seems to be in charge of this site, and it's a good thing he is or I think it would fall apart at the seams. Your on this site as part of a bigger organization, not just your individual counties or business names.
Being met with such distain when someone barely cracks the door on the shop is no way to greet : A) a potential customer. B) a potential contributor to the site, monitarily or otherwise. Guest capabilities are already limited, and rightly so but what is available to anyone to see is less than desirable to any potential person. The welcome I received seems to be the norm in the past from what I've "researched" on this site. That being said I would not mind or be offended if all the posts reguarding me being a representative for safe wash be deleted so I'm not perpetuating the bad "Welcoming" image of RCIA.com.
I plan on joining the site as a "Premium" member. I just hope the air isn't so thick on the other side.
John, 98% of the guest do not share your background, perspective, and insight, thanks for taking the time to reply in a civil tone. RCIA has had it share of guest and few members that have different agendas and bring the word "attitude" to new levels. Good feedback above. Once you join up, you will be welcomed by everybody. The content in the search field is worth much more than the sign up fees, the sharing of info here is unbelievable.
Gas prices and the election has everybody uptight, every job we did this week so far has had a homeowner shaking me down for paint job or a evergreen that was 90% dead from drought, I told a HO today that he had an issue with a shrub today and he said we did it, we had not even started spraying yet.
Everybody is little on edge right now, for good reason.
* I agree with Chuck as to the fact of something smelling a little fish with this dude!
* I agree with Gary as to let it play out and it will come out in the wash!
* I also agree with Magikman as to making the site more transparent to the general public.
I was always against taking 95% of the open posts and making them private. Sure, keep 5% of the family secrets behind closed doors ... that's cool. But the open side has become more of a cheerleading squad (In which I participate) but does not promote fresh content from new members. It seems like this site has shut itself off to new members or inspiring newbies and is now a place for only existing members to promote themselves.
(Didn't mean to digress but I miss the old format which inspired me...for free) Now back to your regularly scheduled program....

Sounds like a reasonable solution, Good enough for me. I just had a passing thought.
Don't get too many anymore.

Ray - yes we had a graffiti removal job at the diffenbaugh bldg. ( corner of Jefferson and Copeland), but the skies opened up on us and we had to pull off. That is my second truck ( f-250) and haven't had time to get it wrapped yet.

Signed , John or " Magikman or something"
Just looking through some of the older posts. I thought it was interesting, that with magikman92's long diatribe he was around RCIA for a week or so and disappeared. Maybe he went back into the Nuclear Industry **which apparently, after 20 years, left him ready to become a hands on worker-roof cleaner **
Maybe he's gotten himself back into neuclear, with a job to help him better prepare the world to blow itself to smithereenies?
I think he put good wording in, that fits himself quite well " put on an air"
