We have several companies down here in North Port, FL that work with Roof-a-cide and preventitive roof mold treatments. I educate my customer of soft washing your roof using manufacturer guidelines will last 4-5 times longer than a traditional power washing & yearly mold treatment. Also that our soft wash system is the only approved roof cleaning method and give them a free spot demonstration. We also guarantee all our roof cleaning in writing for 3 Years, every customer recieves a certificate of completion for a 3 Year Mold-Free Warranty of your roof cleaning.

Proprietary Products
Some roof-cleaning product manufacturers also promote application of additional products they say will keep the roof cleaner and “protected” longer. There are proprietary cleaners that blend fungicides and polymers that are designed for biyearly application. GreenClean, JOMAX, Anti-Growth, Roof-a-Cide, Safer's De-Moss, Shingle Guard™, and Shingle Coat™ are but a few.

Link above was replaced with a new one this last year, this is the new one. The ARMA says not to allow anyone to apply any roof coatings. This is a common sales gimmick. Usually pressure washing companies-not roof cleaning companies-will pressure wash your roof and then sell you an after coating, which they want to reapply every 2 years.Names like Roof-A----. Not wanting to name any specific one. Read the ARMA warning below.

Hello there my friend!

Over here in Englewood area, the Roof-A Cide company is Hoover Pressure Cleaning.

I started John Hoover in business back maybe 18 years ago?? He was and is my friend. He sold it once and it was sold again I heard and I hear it's for sale again. They became a very big company, with a number of trucks and employees. I assume it keeps being resold, because a big company, with a lot of trucks out is an enormous headache! Probably more headaches than the new buyers expected!

I remember when John still owned it and had 2 trucks out, with 4 employees that he said it was hard to make much profit, with all the costs. He said most of the $ he made, was when he went and did jobs himself, during employee turnover openings.

I dont see where it talks about algaecides and fungicides etc. That would be valuable to me. It seems to me it is talking about paint type coverings.

It a blank statement "Field Coatings" doesn't leave anything out. They are saying not to put any type of coating on a roof. The largest fungiside treatment company I know if is roof-a-cide. They say it will keep the roof clean 2 years. that's not giving you anything at all.

Here is what we say "Mr Customer, ARMA warns against there dangerous, unnecessary coatings. If it took your roof 4 to 6 years to get this dirty, does it not stand to reason that one we kill and remove all that plant growth from your roof, it will say clean until then"

I have printed copies of this, that I give to potential shingled roof job customers, warning them in advance-in case they get a bid from such a company too- that it's a gimmick and I personally wouldn't hire any company that intended to sell me a useless product, just for money. I tell them that this printed sheet from the ARMA proves that. I suggest they use the link, also printed there, to read this for themselves.

Good article, Im with Apple Roof Cleaning on this one.. If the roof took that long to get dirty in the first place, then you clean it back to original condition.. Why would it not stay clean for that same period? And we all know that Zinc strips dont work at all
