EBC is a water based mulipurpose ceaner/degreaser. Been on the market for 6 months and the reviews from contractors has been awesome.
I have attached the MSDS and also the Product Bulletin Sheet for EBC for you all to look at.
EBC is compatible to SH and has great cleaning properties. No boosters are needed as the formula consist of great foaming agents. If you are looking for a soap that offers great cleaning....wonderful hangtime and the ability to use less SH on it then I would encourage you to look at EBC.
I would not recommend using EBC on asphalt shingles/roofs as the degreasing agents in EBC would most likely be a disaster for those that do these typ of roofs. However, if you are cleaning more than just roofs at a job site then again I would welcome the opportunity to have you check us out.
We are getting request/questions for this. I know that Jason W. cleaned a commercial roof that had grease spills on it and it came out great. Roof was a rubber coating.
If you like I can send you or someone that you would recommend a gal of it to test out. Let me know
ALL Sodium Hypochlorite has Sodium Hydroxide in it, as you know.
It is a byproduct of the manufacturing process, and is intentionally left in there, because it does 2 things.
#1- Sodium Hydroxide increases the shelf life
#2- It aids in the cleaning 2 ways. It increases Saponification, and it keeps the PH high of the Sodium Hypochloite.
Unless the EBC was pure SH, I can't see it being a problem, even on a shingle roof.
The small amount of Sodium Hydroxide in it is not enough to matter, as far as possible shingle damage is concerned.
I would be willing to bet the percentage of Sodium Hydroxide intentionally left behind in every batch of Sodium Hypochlorite will be greater then the addition of the EBC to a roof cleaners tank.
I can't try it Carlos, because if I did try it, then reccommended and liked it, it would not be ethical for the owner/founder of a roof cleaning forum to suggest it to our members.
However, we have several great roof cleaners here who may want to try it!
Be a pleasure to send you a gal. If you can send me your ship to address we will get it out to you.
Chris,
I have known you for years and your knowledge of chems is appreciated. I had to hire a chemist to get the formula of EBC right. I never did well in chemistry class. I appreciate your insight.
With that said,
When we are doing flat work (concrete) sometimes a little bit of EBC will get spilled on the asphalt when we are mixing our 5'er. The foam on the asphalt will turn a dark brown within 30 seconds to a minute. After we rinse the area that had the EBC on it you can definitely see where the EBC was at compared to the rest of the asphalt. Wouldn't this analogy also apply to asphalt shingles?
Maybe when Ed does his testing he could try and see what it does. I am not aware of any roof cleaners or pressure washers that have used EBC on asphalt shingles so I guess we would want to proceed carefully.
If you go over to the EBC FB page, you will see how EBC gets into the grease on concrete and lifts it up.
I still am unable to read the MSDS sheet, but we must be careful.
If it has Acid in it, we most certainly do not want to mix it with Sodium Hypochlorite and any Bleach.
Many of us roof cleaners have tanks of 100 gallons, or more. Even if EBC were pure Sodium Hydroxide, and we dumped 5 gallons in with 100 gallons of chemical, that will only be 5% Sodium Hydroxide.
Not really enough to damage shingles.
Some commercial Roof Cleaning Chemicals actually are Sodium or Potassium Hydroxide based.
M 1 shingle cleaner, Shingle Shield, New Again, and I believe Roof Shampoo all use Sodium or Potassium Hydroxide as their cleaning agent.
You spray the cleaner on a roof, and wait 20 to 30 minutes. The roof will turn black, then you rinse it off.
And THAT is the problem. That left behind black stuff is a bitch to rinse off w/o fairly high pressure.

In the 6 months that EBC has gone to market we have encouraged contractors to give their assessment on what they think about the cleaning capabilities of EBC. Here are but just a few known contractors in the pressure wash and KEC industry that have provided just that:
Randy Borio, Panther Outdoor -
"EBC sample worked great on Dri-Vit. We normally use about a quart of Building Wash 3 with about half a gallon of bleach in 2 gallons of water in a pump up. Mixed up a small batch of EBC with water and bleach and we were VERY satisfied with the results. So from the crew @ Panther Outdoor two thumbs up."
Andrew Lewis of Hogwash Cleaning - "your stuff(EBC)works great, I'll be ordering more soon!"
Chris Hartje, Golden State Pressure Washing - "Pretty impressed with EBC. Mix a quart and half to a 5'er and was able to complete 3 small shopping centers (flatwork) with the same mix" "Great foam and solid soap". "I have a 3 x 3 very old oil spill in my garage.....I tried everything to clean it and nothing worked including caustic. I applied a small amount of EBC on a area and brushed it in with a soft brush. I just let it sit and started to notice that the oil was lifting from out of the concrete.".
Jim Lewis of Under Pressure Inc - ".....try EBC cleaner you're gonna love this stuff ! "
EBC representatives attended the 2012 Pressure Washing Seminar in Albany, NY in early April. A level of excitement and curiosity drew contractors to the EBC Exhibition Booth where they took that opportunity to find out more about EBC by having one-on-one Q & A sessions with EBC staff.
The seminar was a complete success for EBC as over 30 contractors took home a gallon of EBC.
EBC will be attending industry related functions in 2013 all over the U.S. Please stop by our booth and lean more about EBC.
