Since Rodney died, I guess I'll have to say it. Can't we all just get along.
Joe, I was wondering how you ended up doing with your flier campaign? Going to be investing a bit of money back into the business and that was one of the avenues I was going to do.

I am always up for a good internet debate but honestly this is getting out of control. Pat I like that you called Joe out but enough is enough. If Joe decides to charge what he charges then so be it. He will learn soon enough that he should keep his prices higher. We are here to make money and that's it. Its not to help people out its to help ourselves we want to run a business and provide for our families.
Joe you definitely have a chip on your shoulder and I have no idea why. If you couldn't have anything positive to add to what ed said the why even post. Are you trying to be like me? Haha. Really make a business plan and stick to it an you should succeed.

Have a great day everyone.

Been busy for the last couple of months (fortunately) and have not been around.  I see I have not missed much.  Another rookie speaks up with something to prove that nobody cares about because he is just struttin his stuff.  The more you have the more headaches you have.  Those making money do not have time to chat when the season is on!

been doing very good with the campain.. running roughly 25k worth of fliers a month as well as some back covers on a midweek.. early June i did 4 zones at once which was about 46k worth of flyers.. I keep just saturating the zones.. if someone has any thought of one of the services i provide, i want them to think of our company first.. i dont expect a phone call the minute they get a flyer.. im more for building the brand reconigizion.. so i feel like thats working as ive had customers say they have seen our signs on a few houses... im pulling back on the flyers now though and adding more into our adword campaign.. thats been roughly 1500 a month to google. but its worth it.. sales since march have been in the 25k range a month. so im right on target on where i wanted to be YTD...

Are you saying that you've been shelling out $25,000 worth of flyers (which is a huge amount of flyers) and only seeing $25,000 worth of work coming in per month? Even if you were paying a crazy $1 per flyer and got out 25,000 flyers and got even a 1/2 % return, you would have doubled your investment if your average sale was just $400.00.

Not that it matters at all to me, the numbers just don't make sense unless you are seeing a very small return on your flyers.

BINGO!

Me too, plus not feeling well.

I agree with your reply 100%.

This- "The more you have the more headaches you have.  Those making money do not have time to chat when the season is on!" is why I stay a father & Son business and don't care to become any bigger than I am in business.

I was trying to figure this out too? Sounds almost impossible? hmm

"25k worth of fliers a month as well as some back covers on a midweek.. early June i did 4 zones at once which was about 46k worth of flyers"

$70,000 worth of flyers? With that kind of quantity, they would be dirt cheap = like 140,000 flyers or more for $70,000.00

All I can say is HUH???? confuse

no no 25k is the volume of flyers.. sorry for the confusion. And i do not do the EDDM through the post office.. its too expensive.. Trend Midweek offers a individual post card for 9 cents a piece which includes design, print, and mail... EDDM is around 14 cents i think, plus you have to pay for print and design.. plus you can only do 5000 units at a time.. the zones i use for trend are usually between 11,000 and 14,000 households.. I don think my return on postcard was 1% or even close to it, but its the first year for them.. and in my area, roof cleaning is still a extremly new industry.

my total marketing so far for the year is roughly 20k.. and about 75k in sales, with another 80k out there in estimates.. i'm pulling back on the post cards now and just doing back or front covers, and adwords.. i've had customers tell me the recieved a few postcars, so i think some people are keeping them and will call down the road.. and the back/front covers hit the same zones so I'm using them for branding to keep the company name in front of them.. the key to any business i've learned is branding/marketing.

Keep that health up Chuck...there aren't too many of us old ones around anymore.  Unfortunately my son is only 8 years old so I get to do most of the work along with a Spring helper that I took on.  Hopefully next year he will be up to speed.
