Thanks Larry and Arron. Do you still use Dawn or Amonno, Roof Snot or another product? Ray (Spray-Wash) was talking about a product from a pool supply company that cost a bit more but is SH stable/compatible.

Yes it will be fine. My fifty gal always has mix in it and it stays hot.

I use different stuff at different times,Dawn,Palmolive,whatever dish soap is on sale & sometimes laundry soap.When I use the laundry soap & shoot a roof it smells like the whole neighborhood is doing their laundry at the same time!

Try the cheap Mexican Laundry Detergent from WalMart in the clear plastic bag.

Ya can't miss it, it says made in Mexico on the bag.

Aaron (or anyone else that uses products similar to this), what is the longest you let it sit and it still be hot?

I've had mix still be hot enough to work using laundry, or dish soap after 3 days. After that point I have noticed pretty bad degradation.

Well, we like to work with weak chemical that only cleans 75 percent of a shingle roof, and then requires us to go over 25 or more percent of the roof.

At this intentionally weak mix strength (so u dont kill plants), I agree with Ray from Spray Wash, 3 days max before it starts to eat your chit up.

LOL, what really happens with non compatable soaps and the SH is they "do a 69" (they eat each other), but the SH always "wins", and is weakened in the process.

Here's my personal experience through the school of hard knocks. DON'T DO IT! I got screwed and had to redo the entire roof with a second application. It was a very bad roof with lichen, moss and even Virgina Creeper vines growing in the valleys full of leaves that had been accumulating over the pat 10 years.

I shot most of the roof with the mix from the day before and shot the last 3/4 from a fresh batch from another tank. It was day and night and could not possibly walk away from that job without re-doing the entire roof again with a fresh mix.

I had a bad feeling from the get go. When I looked at my tank in the morning, about 10% at the bottom was different color. Like there was some kind of settling.

Whatever it was, it cost me time and money and I'm going to stick with my old trusted "make up what you gonna use" method!

I had found countless posts on this subject so I decided to do a definitive test for my personal use. I have an ongoing test with:
1: SH & Ammonyx LO
2: SH & Dawn original (non antibacterial)
I have done daily comparisons and kept track. The ammonyx is very slightly better. Of course it degraded but it was still pretty strong after a week and a half. My test also showed that the "SH stable" green apple scent Absolutely killed my mix.

This is a great thread! I mix as needed and buy the job. I have used all kind of different soaps as a surfactant. I always end up with 5-15 gallons of leftover. I sprayed the leftover on a roof for a demo and the mix was at-least a week old and it was still working. It didn't work as quick but it still worked. But I usually dont let it sit that long.
