In Florida, you can become a Florida General Contractor, and not even know how to hammer a nail!
I think many people completely miss the point of Certification.
My Dad was a ASE certified auto mechanic. Dad was known as one of the best auto mechanics in Tampa even before he got his certification.
He did not become Certified to impress other mechanics. In fact, they ridiculed his certification, probably because they were not Certified.
Dad became Certified to impress CUSTOMERS.
As roof cleaners, we do not become Certified to impress people who are jealous of us, and see "no value" in Certification.
We become Certified to demonstrate to our customers that we are really into roof cleaning, and know what we are doing.
If you are reading this, you probably know who I am. You already know I am one of the most knowledgeable roof cleaners in the world.
However, many of my potential customers don't know that!
Here in Ultra Competitive Tampa, some of my competitors lie through their teeth to try and get jobs.
LOL, I have even been told one of my local competitors said they taught ME roof cleaning, and they were the true "experts" LOL
I have had customers tell me "Chris, your competitors all all saying the same thing, prove to me you are the real deal"
That's when I "shoot my competitors" with the RCIA "Certification Bullet"
Then, my wanna be competitors can talk chit all they want, but when the customer sees the RCIA Certification, backed up by the all about roof cleaning RCIA Forum, it ='s GAME OVER.
