Why would anyone want a certification for proper PPE? REALLY?? Have you even looked at all the classes he offers? 1. Lead Technician Daily Duties 2.SoftWash Driver Road Rules 3.SoftWash Safety PPE 4.SoftWash Safety Introduction 5.SoftWash Science and Technology 6.SoftWash Chemical and Mixology 7.Plant and Property Protection 8.SoftWash Roof Spraying Techniques 9.Softwash Surface Spraying Techniques 10.SoftWash Systems Popcorn Marketing 11.Softwash Systems Guerilla Marketing There are more but I think you get the picture. Why wouldn't anyone want to take these classes?? And Gary before you jump on me. YOU brought AC into this. YOU printed a link.
You are correct, but that was just my opinion. Read my first post and note my feelings on opinions. @ $99.00 each, that is quite an investment for info that common sense usually dictates, or is readily available for free most everywhere.
I'm just looking for reasons why some think all other programs are superior to what RCIA offers and de-grades our program, but yet nobody can give reasons for their statements or feelings.
And this has NOTHING to do with AC, may he live in peace. Just looking for answers or reasons.
I had to watch 10hrs of webinars, in order to complete it. Very knowledgeable, I learned alot of stuff from the videos. Nothing against the RCIA but AC offered the certification for FREE! AC's cert doesn't do anything for google rankings, unlike the RCIA. I really like how RCIA shows you certified for that county. It is also much higher on the SEO side of things.
On a brighter note, I just got called by the chief of police as I was typing this. 75 complains about my rock flyers! I threw about 1000. I thought they looked nice.

AMAZING!!! AC did something for FREE? It says on his site that cert. is $299.00. Has anybody never asked if you are a "certified lead tech"? Congrats.
Sorry to hear about the complaints. Comes with that type of marketing. lol
Hopefully you are not using his roof anchor also. OSHA loves them! $$$$, but I guess anything is better than nothing.
Any input on the orginial subject about certification?

You have to watch out for Littering!
Chris, your 100% correct. Most HOA's don't allow loitering and tend to get pretty upset with marketing like this. It's sort of a hit or miss that some could care less and others will start making phone calls. I never received any negative calls from door hangers but it takes MUCH longer to canvas the same area than with rocks-in-a-bag.
This has gotten way off subject. My orginial question was why some always de-grade our cert. program and act like all the others are so much better. Has not been one decent answer yet, so maybe it is just a way for some to express fustration or personal agendas?? Who knows. I guess we'll just let it drop because those that have the answers won't share them.
Dan tell your chief of police to do some real police work and stop worring about how you advertise which is totally legal becuase if it were not the newspaper man would be out of business as well.
Please make sure you video that. I'm sure everybody would love to see the results of those comments.
No one asks if I am a lead tech certified, but as chris said being certified sets you apart. I don't really have much to say about the RCIA cert, since I haven't been through it. I originally said its great how you get listed on the map for being RCIA certified and the SEO factor is HUGE! I paid the $100, great investment! Is the $250 going to get me anymore business? Right now I don't think so, down the road when I have more experience and clients sure.
BTW.. Chief of police was really nice guy, he told me just to keep the flyers away. No littering problems.
I guess the biggest question that comes to mind is.
Is the RCIA in place to educate home owners and teach the roof cleaning trade or make money?

YES, Yes, And Yes. But sorry to say, it does take some $$$ to keep this place going. Forum runs from $100. to $200. a month depending on amount of posts. Webinars for certification and testing on Instant Presenter run $65.00 to $85.00 a month. Chris gets a small fee for his effort and what he has built, and I don't get a damn thing other than more BS than I can stand some time, but I love most of you guys.

LOL, I often spend more time with the Forum, then I do on my own business.
This is a Labor Of Love, not a means for me to get rich. In fact, my roof cleaning business makes much more in a Month, then I get here in a year!
My real payment comes when I hear something like this "Chris, what you have built has changed my life, and allowed me financial independence"
Many of you are in untouched by competitors roof cleaning markets.
Enjoy it, while you can!
But trust me, the "secret" is out that there is a TON of Money in cleaning roofs.
So, soon you WILL have competition like you will not believe, as I face here in Tampa everyday.
Our SMART Premium Members are targeting their local areas by cranking out promotional posts using every conceivable keyword string to cover every inch of what they feel is their terrotory!
These members will be wealthy Men some day, because when their competitors DO arrive (and they will) they will be fukked.
Remember this, the Older the URL, all things being equal, the better!
Remember, the promotional posts you make today, are like money in the bank for you tomorrow!
Chris and Gary, you both had great responses. I understand the price of the forum, it makes perfect sense, and I wish you guys all the money in the world from this site. Your SEO, should bring you some extra bacon. Sell some Advertising space. Who cares if it is one small banner. You gotta do what you gotta do.
Gary, you are sweating more then Mike Tyson in a spelling B!!! It is what it is man and I'm sure no one care's what the forum brings in, but when you volunteer financial information and make it sound like the forum is hanging on by a thread, people's ears tend to perk up and fire up the calculator. My calculator talks to me like my blood pressure monitor and it's saying "fuzzy numbers".
"fuzzy numbers" taken from Ross Perot during the 1992 presidential debate.

Back to the original question and statement. It basically came down to operating costs as you stated gary so you stated that is about 100-200 a month to be ad free and 65 for the certified video hosting. So thats 1200-2400 a year for an ad free forum and 780 for the video for the cert. So i did a little math and here is what i came up with.
The most it cost is 3180 for the yr. So just with premium membership there is 15,620 left for the year. I would say we are doing fine.
188 x $100= $18,800 this is an impressive number
They are all “current” members, meaning they paid there $100 fee within the last 12 months.
This does NOT include:
Certification fees
Premium Vendor Fees
Member Donations to keep the site advertisement free
Selling Add Banner Space
Fees for having your business on the Certified Member Map by County after the first free one
Man this place is a cash cow and you always complain about AC charging for his services.

Your figures also do not include a lot of obvious expenses like taxes, preparation charges, member pkg expenses (thats why it got dropped), old forum expenses that used to run close to $500.00 a month up until 4 months ago, and Instant Presenter fees back when RCIA was hosting webinars for another member. There also is over 50 members who did not re-certify or re-new their premium memberships, and in the very near future there will be a large majority up for re-newal since premium membership is barely one year old.
On the surface it may look like a cash cow, and it may be in the future, but there has been a lot of changes during the past year and the income is sporadic, so nothing can be relied upon.
However MY orginial question was "Why some always de-grade and talk bad about RCIA's cert program". It had nothing to do with money. And it sure as hell had nothing to do with AC, but YOu had to throw that in there, as usual. And I don't charge for my services on here as somewhat implied.
Yea right!!!! And don't forget my Hot water pressure washer, 1" air pump, and trailer. Whole total package cost me----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Under 2k
