I did an estimate for a guy and got this respnse. Anyone ever use oxegen bleach? Will it clean like SH?
Eric, Thanks for the proposal. Although I initially was going to contract with A & E, I had reservations about your use of a chlorine based bleach (S H which is basically a swimming pool sanitizer - HTH). I have personally observed shrubbery damage a few months after chlorine bleach was used by another reputable contractor.
Therefore, I have decided to use another contractor using oxygen bleach, which appears to be the recommended method if shrubbery is near by. If my results turn out to by unsatisfactory, I may contact you next year. I sincerely appreciate your efforts and still may contact you about house painting.
You can buy a roof cleaning course online. They say to use s. percarb., let it sit for a half hour and then rinse off with a power washer. "So I heard."
Ace is right, I bought an E-book when I first started looking into roof cleaning and it's focus is using OxyClean and then rinse off with a "roof gitter", same thing as a pitch witch, that you can purchase through the same guy who sold the E-book.
So customers are being improperly educated. Eric I would call him back, thank him for the response, but you can ensure him that you used the RCIA and ARMA recommended soft-wash. Also tell him your current track record for plants. 4 years and no plant deaths, is quite impressive. And of course if, there was any plant damage that you would put new ones in yourself.
Eric did the homeowners decisionhave anything to do with price! i lost a job the other day to a PW that gave homeowner a price that was 1/2 of mine!! I didn't find out what the PW company was using but the homeowner didn't care about the possible damage with a PW and cared only about the price.

I'm not sure. He did say, when we first spoke that the price I gave him was close to what he had in his head. Who knows, everyone is looking to save a buck these days but, the $$'s he saved may end up costing more in the long run!

You could spray dish soap on a roof and pressure wash it to "look" clean - or use a pitch witch or surface cleaner.
