Brian,
I feel this is a very proactive business. You have to go out and get the customers. Not send a card, email or just advertise and wait for the phone to ring. Maybe that will work down the road, when roof cleaning is more recognized as a legitimate business.... But for now, 9 out of 10 people never even heard of roof cleaning.

There are literally 1000s and 1000s of homes within 10 minutes of my house that need their roofs cleaned. I feel it is cost effective for me to take my time, walk these neighborhoods, talk to the homeowners, do some demos.... And book ALOT of jobs.

No 4.00 a gallon gas, running all over hecks creation.... 10 minutes from my door. I park my rig at the entrance of the development, where every passerby will see it. I walk the neighborhood with my iPad, and picture book (old school pics), flyers and biz cards.... And.... talk to people. I am the best advertising my company can buy...

I can send an email estimate right on the spot. My iPad has a program set up... It takes 2 minutes to enter homeowner info.... And push the send button.... They have an estimate....

This works well for me. Others have different ways....

Good luck.

I sent out my 1st 100 emails this week. For some of the members that dont know I do some property maintenance( this is were the name Mr. Maintenance comes from). I have a customers base of over 800, they are strickly customers that I winterize there lawn sprinklers in the Fall and in the spring I will do there sprinkler start-up and tune up. I send out 100 at a time every spring, well I added the roof cleaning service to this years email letter. I did and estimate yesterday and I have (2) for today!! Im dissapointed and I feel  that I should have gotten more than (3) estimates!! Now i cant send my next hundred for another  few days or atleast a week!!

Donnie

I agree with you on a few things!! Other stuff I don't agree!! I too can send estimates right on the spot. I have an estimating program I use for PSP State Farm insurance work and portable printer already in truck. I wasn't looking for jobs to land in my lap!! I'm very pro-active as I have to be to keep my Remodeling & Home Improvement going!! I just thought I would get more replys to the e-mail, not estimates or jobs just feed back. Thanks for your input!!

Brian, Your emails are a great piece of the marketing pie! Someone told me that the typical expected return on advertising is 1/2-1%. 3 out of a hundred is 3%, so thats a great start. All of your advertising, post cards, flyers, website visits, etc together, will make a successful business that generaltes a lot of interest and calls to your phone. Honestly, 75% of my calls are generated from the internet and the rest are a combo of mailers, home shows, door hangers and most importantly, REFFERALS!

I have a huge customer list. I have found that email does not work for me. In fact, I personally will stay away from a company that spams me.... or calls me for work. Just me, every one is different.

With chimney sweeping, I send a post card in late spring with a $25 off discount to schedule in June, $15 off to schedule in July and $10 off to schedule in August. Email has never worked for this promotion... where as the post cards do.... ???? I dunno... ?

Then again, a mass email takes maybe 10 minutes.... so... why not do it ?

Time for noxzema on my head...... SUNBURN TODAY ! :)

Sunburn, or in my case, a killer tan in March!   Life is good eh Donnie?

Looking forward to some major rain Saturday and Sunday to take a breather, catch up on quotes and admin, and SEO.
