$9000 house only. I wish. I know its too early for most guys to post. But I priced it at $7400.00. Im not to proud to admit that I have 0 experience with cedar. I think going the bleach route is not ok. Clyde has alot experience with cedar and he offered to help me out if I pay his mortgage for the next 36 months. The customer said I was way, way out in left field with the price. Because he did it a few years ago with some of his guys. What do you think my response was to that......?

did he say what he paid a few years ago?

tell him thanks to the fed, our dollar has lost some purchasing power... so you need more of them in 2012 lol..

I never had to do a cedar roof, but why can't you use a low % SH mix and apply several coats?

the reason for not using sh is that it will break down the fibers in the wood too much and actually hurt the wood. The way bruce sullivan is doing them is not the proper way. Sure you can do it but the end result down the road will not be as good as light power washing with S precarb and oxilic acid followed up by a stain and sealer.

I would have asked him to call his guys so i can hire them at 5 bucks an hour and told him i would do it for 4000 and have him seal it himself.

I bid one at 2.00 per sq, did not get it, my issue is that most shake roofs have other issue's, like cracked shakes, paper issues, and these are a 2-3 step process, multi-trips, no big one there, I would need a lift for this 5k sq ft that was not a walk roof and wet cedar is like ice, I needed a shake repair pro because I don't know shake installation, and the roof was in a neglected state.

That's interesting that he didn't call his own guys back? Their no longer around or he wasn't happy with them.

Honestly i wouldnt touch that job for less than 10,000 if i was going to seal it afterwards.

Mike,Ed and Clyde how long would that job take? Cost of material?

I would say 2-3 days for wash and brightner and another 2 days for sealer. Labor cost minus myself 1000. Lift rental 800-1600. Sealer 1500. Then 6500 for making me do alot of hard work. But thats just me im greedy.

I would say 40 hours to clean and seal and approx 800.00 in material.

It was hard for me to tell by looking at pictures.

Ed might of been a tad high, but with out seeing it I can't be sure. I think he gave a good price for a professional job that they would of received.

but it certainly isn't a 10 or 12.000 dollar job.

Mike I would of been content with making $150.00 per hour for many of hours at one location. It would definitely be ball busting work for us old guys working off a chicken ladder, I'm not denying that.
