Shingle Magician Roof Cleaning just finished a successful weekend of educating home show attendees on the proper way to clean a roof. We gave away one free roof cleaning job and received many requests for free estimates.

We are doing our first Garden show this coming weekend. I made a before and after display with some shingles I removed while doing a roof repair. I plan on giving away a free roof washing and I am doing estimates on the spot using my iPad and Bing maps. I am also asking for people to sign up for my email list to send out bulk email with future promotions.
Thanks, guys. Time will tell! This was my first stab at a home show booth. I've got a few improvement ideas for next year.

That is an awesome set-up you have. I will be doing my first home show this weekend. It won't compare to everyone else's home show...this is a smallllllll time show. Only lasting 4 hours in my local hometown of 18,000 people. But, I figure any exposure is good exposure.
I made this over the weekend. Hope it gets the point across

Eric,
I like that idea of the before and after shingles. It gives the consumer something tangible. We have toyed with the idea of setting up a display at the local flea markets this spring and summer.

Very nice. I hope you get good returns on your time and effort. Keep us posted on your results, definitely worth the time an effort if it drums up business.
I was just curious if others have had good results from home/trade shows? We've got the state fair plus county fairs that sorta thing. I'd like to try them out if it wouldn't be too expensive, I definately like your display.
Thanks for the booth feedback, people are running in to each other looking up at the roof stains, adding a 3x8 sign that will get more attention, Saturday-Sunday has yielded (1) 1k job, and a 1k quote that is checking refs, ins-w/c, and we booked two neighbors for 400 house washes. We have passed out quite a few handouts, some people don't want to give out their name and number, others come with printed name, address labels and photo's of roof stains. Maybe our work comes from an under served market, big houses, we measured a 14k sq/ft roof today. We are not very smart.
We are giving a roof cleaning away to someone that needs it and doing a promotional piece off of it. Shows are a great venue to educate, introduce yourself and get face time with your market, sometimes.... We now have to convert leads in to jobs. Show's are expensive, our hard expense is over 25-30 per lead avg, as of now.
One thing a show will do is get you into selling roof cleaning in 3-5 minutes, and you better be concise, buyers will either connect with you and walk away liking you, trusting you and respecting you in a matter of a few minutes, sometimes it take's 10-15 minutes to break through, especially with older females.
My take on shows in general is, there is only one thing worse than being there and that's not being there.
