It was too early for a mailing
Permalink

Feb 16, I mailed to 490 homes, as of today I haven't got one single call!

who know's why?

bad post card

bad area

too early

I would say too early, and a combination of bad post card and wrong area.

I think it was a little early to send out a roof cleaning mailing up North.

Generally, we need homeowners to be out looking at their filthy roofs before they will respond to cleaning offers.

Hate to be a downer here, but if you are waiting for calls to come in, I say "don't hold your breath"

I say this wilth kindness and Love for you Clyde, because I know you are trying so hard.

I WAS going to make this a part of a paid marketing webinar, but WTF ?

Print up some nice color postcard type flyers, and give them to painters in your area to pass out with their painting estimates.

Painters need to be educated about how the mold from the roof can come down and "eat up their paint job"

Painters LOVE these Flyers, because it makes them look good to a potential customer when they say " Whatever painting company you go with, be sure and have the roof cleaned".

I'm going to prepare another mailing and get it out. I can pretty much bank on a good spring, that is when everyone wants their stuff cleaned up, It's the mid summer that is always the dead time, this will be time I will really have to focus on. I had a decent fall last year, however it can always be alot better.

Heck, we have gotten calls two and three months after we have left flyers in neighborhoods where we were working. Last summer a lady called who had it for over six months.

Chris lol, I once had a painter that was giving me all his pressure cleaning work, he could count on me to get the jobs done immediately, and make him look good,

then one year we was talking and he said what ever you did for me last year plan on doubling it this year, and I made the fatal mistake of telling him how much he paid me the year before, and the phone went silent, he had no idea how much he was paying me, (contracting out) and now he is doing all his cleaning in house.

Painters generally don't make near as much as pressure washing, they tend to get a little pissed when they find out how much we make.

So far I have gotten the response, we are waiting for the weather to break. Key to a good early flyer is give them an incentive. $25 OFF

Post cards were 6x9 direct mail ( by their self )

To be honest with you they were directed towards deck cleaning and staining, on the back of the card it listed all my other services.

I had ten thousand of these post cards laying around and I wanted to use them up.

True that Clyde,  personally I would keep painters as far away as possible.

Tom I have delt with about 4 painters in the past, and every time they get very jealous of the money we make in power washing, I strongly agree to stay away from painters, or atleast be very carful how you do business with them, because a painter can turn out to be your competitor very easily.

Clyde i use to do 25,000.00 post card in the late fall for my sprinkler winterizing. The company that mailed them use to try to time them for the 1st frost!! why?? cuz her in NH people only think of there lawn sprinklers freezing at the 1st sign of frost. This was proven wrong when i received a call for a (2) car garage and family room above(addition).. Hence i saw the post card customer had when i met with them!! post card was (6) months old.. Oh i advertised on the backside of these same postcards to promote my Building & Remodeling business.. I hope this helps..
