What would you say?

I did an estimate yesterday morning. Home was just over 4500 sq ft. She balked at my price and told me the home they have down in Florida only cost a few hundred dollars and wanted to know why my price was so much more.....

I am kinda stumped as to what to say? All last year I averaged $0.20 a square foot and have been using that figure so far this year.

Tell her you charge what your service is worth. Then highlight what sets you apart, also things are generally cheaper in Florida (at least compared to where I live).

I was just gonna say do you have a second home in Fla? How do you think they got it? Working hard and getting paid for it? If you drop your price you look like you were ripping them off.....let it go move on.

Mature markets, or market like Florida are different, we price our work on a number of factors, one is sq ft, gutters, botanical garden landscaping, reclaim or recovery of the broth, 32ft ladder moves, guard protection removal, and few other factors. I really don't need the practice. I think .25 a ft is a good number. There are a lot of services that are less where market demand is greater. Labor is cheaper in Florida.
