I am not using a digital billboard but my billboard is going to be $700 a month. I'm debating whether or not I should have 2 billboards in the same town, or spread them out between 2 towns. There is one theory of flooding the market so that the customer repeatedly sees your advertisment, or the second theory of spreading it across an area so more people will see it, but the amount of times they see the advertisement will be less.
I used billboards 10 years ago for my deck sealing biz.... I had 3 billboards all around the Harrisburg Area.... Everyone would always say they saw my billboard..... but.... when a customer called to schedule.... they would say they got our number from - the phone book, newspaper, magazine or word of mouth.... hardly every simply because they saw my billboard.
I know it definitely helps with branding and name recognition.... I think you have to do it for the long haul.... If you don't see immediate response, you can't get discouraged....
$700 a month seems like a good price.... that's about what I was paying.... with very high traffic counts ....
I was presented 3, for 30 days on a busy highway's for 10k, they said it was a deal, I passed. I think in smaller markets with smaller prices they might work, problem with large metropolitan areas then all ten to blend in, like clutter. Kind of like a exit ramp on the weekends with 15 signs. I might hire my sign placement out. How about 50 yard signs out on targeted clients intersections. If I pay 5.00 per sign and put out, pick up, @ 50 on a weekend would be 1000.00 per month. Is 50 small one's better than 1 big one.
I know FULL BLAST has BLASTED our area with his signs. It must be working.... because he keeps 'em coming ! I think he's even stuck one in my yard before...
I know all of the the local township folks.... I can't do that.... or I'd be in deep poo poo....
I do use yard signs... I pick strategically located customers.... and give them a SUPER DEAL... for yard sign placement....
I think with any marketing campaign you have to use different techniques, the billboard may catch a few eyes, so will the yard signs. Maybe throwing a few rocks, or hitting the local papers. Need to find out what gets the people going.
If your area in PA is anything like here in Central PA.... it will be Word-of-Mouth !
99 out of 100 homeowners around here don't even know a roof can be cleaned. If you do 1 or 2 in a neighborhood.... you can easily pick up 5 or 6 more....
I've said it before.... I give VERY GOOD prices for strategically located homes (development entrances) .... and then the neighbors follow...
