Do you mean adwords or adsence?

If you're talking about adsence, I'm assume you want to advertise your business and not posting adsence ads on your site-which you can do.

So you can do banners types and button texts.

I've done both of these for a few service businesses.
I've also tried contextural ads through other sources

I've never had ANY luck with the adsence strategy for a local service business.
You kind of end up watching your "deposit" to Google slowly disappear.
