Tell me more about the insurance companies banging the homeowners for not having them cleaned. Is it when they have filed a claim or when the policy is being written
Insurance companies send out inspectors to look at the exterior of houses that they insure. If they see something they don't like moss on the roof, broken stairs, etc. They send out a 90 day notice to correct the defect or be cancelled. I did several jobs this year where the ins. co. wanted the roof cleaned. They all had heavy moss build up.
The inspections are done when writting a new policy as well as on an ongoing basis every 3 - 5 years.

We have only done a 11 this 1st year, that will be changing in the spring of 2012 I have made a decsion to keep the business going do to the loss of my good friend and business partner John Gregg R.I.P Brother roof cleaning will go on in Durham Region Ontario!
Lately, we have been Cleaning Roofs in Tampa for homeowners seeking to get Insurance on their house. Here in Florida, insurance companies sometimes want a new roof, or one in good condition.
Insurance Adjusters will NOT send business, since cleaning an old or leaking roof is fradulent.
The Insurance AGENTS are the ones to target
Go offer to clean the roof of their office free, or at 1/2 price, to demonstrate your non presure roof cleaning service.
This is my first visit here in a few months, I have been really busy since Sept and it has not stopped 6 to 7 day work weeks are welcome here. I am very thankful for it though after a really slow and crappy summer of doing 5 to 8 homes a week to now doing 12 to 20 a week. Not all roofs but I have cleaned a lot this year. I looked in my QB company snapshot of this year and we stand at 277 roofs cleaned not counting November since it has not been entered yet. We have completed 414 jobs total 1 truck and subbed out 49 jobs to another company I am good friends with.
I hope this keeps up like this.

I did fish the Southern Tour this year and the FLW Gator Division and the Toho Team Tournament Trail and numerous other events which took up A LOT of my time this year so I actually really worked 6 months so 277 now 284 roofs and now 426 jobs in a 6 month span ain't too bad. And I am still booking jobs and am booked to the 3rd week this month. Looks like I will be working christmas eve :-/ hopefully not!
Next year I am full focused on guaranteed money and not tournament winnings gamble. So I am doing the hiatus from out of state tournaments and out of town local events. So I can fish the Opens in 2013

Exactly Chris...we've picked up 5 jobs this years from Insurance AGENTS!!!! The underwriters are rejecting the properties due to stained roofs.

you know i just went over my books and tallied everything up and compared it to last yr and i have improved my business by 50%. So i am going to take back about hiring AC. The things and systems he taught me definetly helped and now i have an even bigger plan for next yr. So if you are struggling to get over the next step in business give AC a call and im sure he'll be able to help.

This was my first full year in business and we did a total of 48 roof washes along with house washes, concrete, fleets and other things. I set my goal a little higher for the roof cleaning and I am a little disappointed. After looking back throughout the year, I didn't take the business as seriously as I should have. I did a lot of golfing, beer drinking, fishing and some more beer drinking. However, I made more money this year on my own than I ever have working a "real job." So, I will evaluate and start looking towards my goals for next year. I don't see why I can't double or triple my roof washes.
Also, she said yes, so I will be getting married in June! That is reason enough to double or triple business for next year!

Over the years I have spent thousands of dollars on sales & marketing training in past careers. I have learned very little "new" stuff, trice, or techniques (with the exception of email and the web) over the past 15 years. Yet still I gladly pay for seminars, training and marketing lessons. Why??? Refreshers are nice, and sometimes we need a little motivation, sometimes we need a swift kick in the rear, and sometimes we just need a reminder that we are maintaining a proper course.

I agree 100%. It is imperative to have continuing education in the areas of techniques, marketing and web SEO. It’s always changing and we need to keep up on our game to compete with low balling competitors!

We just did another insurance job as well, in December! This one was ugly...Very ugly. Here's a shot from the lift:
Let's get real here! Cleaning 1,000 roofs in a year. Do the math!!
That calculates to 2.73 roofs a day.
We picked up 223 new cleanings to date this year and have treated 2,372.
we do not consider our preventative maintenance service as cleanings, as we are only treating to prevent the return of fungus.
If you will notice, I have not been on this sight for several months. My reasoning, to much BS.
I have been in the business for 25 years and if someone is claiming cleaning 1,000 plus roofs a year in today's economy, someone needs to wake them, they are dreaming!!!!!!!!!!!
As for bashing AC, we all know the truth...................
We pretty much stopped treatments here in Tampa. Traffic is very bad, scheduling and billing got to be problems, plus we depend on our repeat customers.
Last week, we cleaned 4 Tile Roof customers at an average of 800.00 apiece. We would not have had them, if they did the treatments.
