Great point Guy. There's a few bone heads around here that are just making enough for beer money. One guy is advertising a full house wash for $99. Also, I did a roof on Friday and the owner asked if I could pressure wash his walk and diveway. I told him I would have to come back Saturday because I didn't have it on my trailer. Now get this...he tells me that he already has someone coming on Saturday and going to do it for $10 an hour and if I could do better, I could have the job. Needless to say...I enjoyed my Saturday off with my family.

To which I would have replied...... My business model isn't based on price matching or low price, if all you care about for your largest investment is low price, then by all means call the other guy. If I wanted to work for $10 I'd work at Mc Donald's, which is where the guy doing the work probably works. Good Luck With That.

I've actually said this to a few people that have been our Customers for years now, and refer all they're Friends to us.

Last year 8 of us in the Delaware, Pennsylvania, new Jersey area got together in February and talked about networking. All of our web sites rank well and we get calls from all over those areas. We agreed to pass the leads on to each other and it has worked out beautifully! I have passed on quite a few leads and I have been given just as many leads if not more. You have to realize that it is profitable to work with other contractors and everyone will make out in the long run. Just keep in mind that everyone has to be on the same page. I have also run into issues with a guy that tells people he used to work for me when he bids against me and I have never even met that guy in person. I guess when he tells people he can do the same job as I can only cheaper, he thinks it will get him work? Brian

That's nice Brian that you guys are working together,Atr Olerveri has sent me many jobs and I hope to play catch up with him next season. I had a customer call me for an estimate this summer, he informed me that he was referred to a company by service magic. After he got the estimate from the company he informed them that he was calling my company for an estimate as well. The guy doing the estimate told him he was "affiliated" with my company no need to do that. This guy didn't buy it and I got the job, just wonder how many jobs I may have lost to that response.

Networking indeed Brian.  It goes a LONG way.  There are three roof cleaning businesses that are well entrenched here in my area. We send business to one another when the situation deems it appropriate.  All three of us benefit from it, as do our clients.

I needed a hand once, and of course I called on one of our RCIA brothers.   I gave a RCIA brother a hefty job with a nice payday once too. It was a done deal, sold and everything.  Good karma

But to rattle sabres with me business wise (or otherwise for that matter LOL) NOT a good idea    Just ask one of my attorneys!!

BTW - good to see you posting here again.
