We cleaned the gutters and installed Gutter Filters with a 25 year transferable manufactures warranty. While we were there we cleaned the siding and decks.

Brett...do those filters work well for pine needles? The gutter guards seem to trap them and wondering if after a good rain, would they get flushed like the leaves do.
Since the gutters were packed full, growing all sorts of things and not draining, the stick your hands in and grab a handful method worked best. I like these filters. They are exceptional quality, made in the US, durable, easy to install and a good add on for my customers.
As far as pine needles go. They are always the toughest to keep out of anything. I haven't had anyone say anything yet but the manufacturer assures me that a blast from a leaf blower will remove anything stuck. Time will tell.
Nice gutter cleaning job Brett of Roof Cleaning Virginia! I have pulled ants and even a live snake out of a gutter before while cleaning them. Have you ever had those problems Brett?

Thank God NO!!! I can deal with the ants but don't want snakes when I'm on a ladder!
Michael - I've been installing GutterFill for 6+ years. It comes in 4 ft lengths and is ez to install. You just tuck it under the hidden hangers or spikes and scoot it into place. I've had it on my own house for 5 years. Last year when I reroofed I pulled it out and reinstalled it. I noticed a fair amount of deterioration from the UV rays and the squirrels had chewed up a few areas. GutterFil comes with a 20 year no clog warranty and touts it's product as the only fire resistant on the market. All in all the product works but time will tell if it lasts 20 -25 years. One downside is that Costco now sells a similar product for $1.50 ft for 5" ogee gutters and I'm sitting on 500+ of 5" that I paid $3.00 lin/ft last year. There is a lot of competion in the filter market and the prices are going down. If you are cleaning gutters then installing gutter filter makes since. On one story walkable pitch homes I would pay my teenage son $0.25 lin/ft to install, he could do 100 ft in 1 -2 hours and make a little $$$.

brett is that "gutter stuff" and how was the installation of the product as far as time per section.
Mike, I use a different product than what Tom uses. Mine has a 25 yr. transferable manufacturer warranty and they also offer another product (20 yr. transferable) that is flat and sits on top of the spikes/hangers. It goes in real easy and after the first install you will have it down. It's a nice add on and something you can do as long as there isn't that white stuff.
As to getting it from Costco. There is a lot of this stuff out there but then there is the China factor. Before I went with the company I use, I researched a bunch and found that if the filter isn't coated all the way through, it will start to disintegrate. The Chinese stuff might last 2 years. What I use is made right here in the great state of VA!
I tell ya what Brett if its made in the great US of A it sure is worth the xtra $$$ Looking forward to hearing more about gutter guardat NOVA We have been talking about if we wanted to install some. Mebe you could bring a small piece along??
I have a friend who sold Gutter Filter. He had a few complaints on the stuff. He even had to remove it from a few homes. The stuff clogs from the hairy chit that falls out of oak tree's. Sell this stuff at your own risk. None of the gutter protection works perfect. That's why I sell Alum. gutter screens. There affordable and they work just fine if the gutter has the correct pitch.

Art, you are so right, "None of the gutter protection works perfect". I have seen many different types and styles and can say the stuff I found is way better then most I have seen w/o coating and a dense as a sponge. Personally, I hate gutter screens as I have been cut up by them more than once over the years. Everyone here is doing something different and what works for them and their market. In the end, that's what is most important.
