Tried out the green wash today for the first time. with only ounces added to each 5 gallon and 2/3 gallon SH. I was impressed! Just one roof though. The smell was good and covered it up fairly well too.
Surficant does 2 things. Thickens the mix AND opens up the surface for penatration. The later being most important?
I didnt observe the roof wash and going by helper he says it works faster. He said it ran too much, and I snuck some dish soap in the last batch, and both downspouts were pouring the same so he sprayed too much.
What I know is I used less SH. way less.
EDIT: This is starting to happen a lil more often now and Way Cool! Driving past jobs I did and customers waving going down highway, . Anyway. Leaving this job, a customer, roof wash last year, flagged me down!!! Had a great conversation!!! She loves her roof!

Ive heard that before? what is Talon? Also " less SH on steeper roofs"?
Also The green wash works. I believe spraying it is different than the way we are used to. 2 more roofs tomorow. Just one roof so far with the green wash, 2 tomorow same chit. Need me another mossy roof that needs a lawnmower to REALLY test this chit!!!

I'm contemplating hiring Moroccain tree climbing goats as help for moss, they eat their salaries so its dirt cheap labor and they won't fall off a steep roof like some questionable help...

That should have been I'm using less sh. On steeper roofs I am adding Talon. I get the Talon from Southside Equipment.
Talon is an Amine Oxide designed to give roof cleaning mix cling so it doesn't run off before the job is done. Add 2 quarts to 100 gallons of roof cleaning mix for the desired effect. Chlorine stable, so the mix stays strong for days.
I dont know? To whiten the moss sprayed apple cider. Used the 3% soulution. Took forever and didnt get to the next job. Customer is holding payment. Going back Tuesday.
Mike, try the bleach wash too! I've been using it on windows and it really safes on clean up time.
Ray - could I trouble you to give me a brief description of the two? (Green and Beaclh Wash). I haven't kept up with them, yet your vote of confidence carries a lot of weight in my book.
We did a couple of roofs with moss last week. We used a 3% solution on one and it took a good extra 20 gals to get the moss white. On the next one we went to a 4% solution and no problems. So the greenwash with a lower sh solution works good on algae and moss needs a stronger solution.

Greenwash augments the cleaning effectiveness of SH.
1. Breaks the surface tension on the cleaning surface.
2. Allows deeper penetration of SH solution into stains.
3. Allows SH reaction to happen at a lower overall SH concentration.
4 Allows SH reaction to happen at lower (winter) temperatures.
5. Allows SH to dwell longer on horizontal surfaces.
6. Includes rinsing agents that fight hard water spotting.
7. Includes a masking / cover scent.
I think he meant PM for Bleach instead of Bleach Wash.
PM for Bleach is a buffering soap that can be used to reduce the damaging effects of caustic cleaners. It also can be used as a final rinse on siding, windows, wood fences, and decks. It helps redce hard water spotting on windows and even adds shine to weathered vinyl siding.
