If you have square tubing on your ladder rack. You can use 2" angle Iron. Notch it, bolt it wit 5/8 bolts. It will not go anywhere. You can weld it later on

Hey Art, I found some square u bolts online.. What did you mean to notch the angle iron? I'm sorry for my ignorance, I'm still learning a lot of this stuff, so I google suggestions and ask questions if I don't know what the heck I'm looking at.

I need to order a new ladder rack in order for this to work.. I'm dropping money on equipment left and right!

 Plil you need to notch one side off the iron. Like a 2x2 square. Then bolt it on to the rack.  If you want to bolt it to the top of the bed. Get a steel plate and bolt it to the to of the rail. then mount the reel to it. I would put a peace of steel under the rail also. good luck

No Art, but I have used a u bolt on square tubing. Think about it. If you can. It isn't perfect like using square u bolts but it works if that is all you have.
