Hi Jim. I'm not familiar with a JDC spray gun, yet all things being equal, I suspect that it may be the cuplrit. If the orfice is too resctricted, it will cause the relay to chatter and burn up rather quickly. If that's the case, replacing the relays should bring the pumps back to life. (The pumps will hum very smothly when the flow is not restricted.)

Our new friend Opie is a fast learner, 'cause if the new relay doesn't do the trick, call Bob!!

Thanks for the reply, I called Bob at Pressure Tek and I must say he helped with my problem and then some. He shared some info on setup that makes our spray system universal for roof treatments and pesticide applications.

Bob knows his stuff. I would refer them to anyone.

Head pressure is LESS with 1/2 inch hose. (FRICTION loss is higher.) 5850s can and will run all day long on a 1/2 hose, so will a Fatboy if adjusted properly. My Fatboy lasted over a year with 200' of 1/2" with LOTS of jobs done before giving up. (I now run 3/4" on my Fatboy for a different reason.)

Bob IS awesome, and his sidekick Andy is pretty darn good too.

Talked to Bob at Pressure Tek yesterday around 10 am. New pumps and parts delivered to my shop before 9am this morning. I am humbled, that type of customer service is what MY company should strive for!!!

It was the switches on the pump. Bob told me how to test the switch. You disconnect the red wire coming from the rear of the pump at the connector, then take the same red wire and the black ground, touch to the battery. If the pump motor works now its the switch. Quick easy repair, $20 part, 4 screws and 10 minutes your are up and running again. Bob shared also on setting up the correct pump pressure that I need to use my system as a power spray rig.

Easiest way to permanently fix this problem: STOP USING DELEVANS! Switch to air pumps, Flo-Jets to be exact. Bob will take care of you. We used Delevans for years, and would go thru them one right after another. Been using air pumps for a little over a year and a half. No relay issues, no pressure loss, no seals going bad, no nothing. Just smooth, consistent spraying and the ability to reach about 40 ft. minimum from the ground.

Tucker and Larry had been on me FOREVER about switching over, but I was stubborn and kept using the delevans. Reluctantly, I switched, and kicked my own butt for waiting so long.
