next season i'm gonna be less of a pushover in that department ... looks like we're all pretty busy right now, managing accounts receivable is one thing but dealing with a cash flow issue is something i understood but never really got, i do now though.

I deal with a lot of 2nd home owners, as in the house I clean is the vacation house or cabin, so 2 wks then a second bill 3 wks a phone call, have not been burned yet but thought I was going to be. I also have an account where I by my solution. They let me charge as much sh as I like. so its usually no problem waiting a couple of wks.

I usually wait up to a week after leaving an invoice, if I don't see a check in the mail by then, I make a phone call. Never had problems with this yet. I'm starting to put "due upon receipt" on the invoices.

Oh, another thought, the invoicing software I use is billingboss.com, they have a thing where you can email the invoice and accept online immediate payment thru paypal or sage. that might solve some problems too but of course there are fees associated with online payments.

We make sure that payment terms are agreed upon with each customer.99% is pay upon completion.Every now & then we still get the knuclehead who somehow does not understand that that means exactly that, and will want to send a check later.That is not acceptable to me unless agreed upon by both parties before work begins.

back in may I had a lady give me a check that bounced and it took another month before I could get my money that caused a real cash flow problem that I'm just now getting caught up
