I ran into the same problem with a home this week, but it was like that when i arrived and I refused to wash it until I get some answers, I did spray some plex master o n it to see if it would bring it back , but no luck
The home owner said that he had a different company clean it last yr and they used bleach and they brushed it. On certain areas of the home you can see the brush marks.

its a clay color siding,  this is so ironic cause I came here this moring to post these pic and found this thread.  I was thinking the last cleaners used a degreaser or to strong of mix and did not rinse it,  I only use 2 gallons sh to 40 gallons h20 with some hang tight. pics are below

You might try some plex master on the dull siding but I would not apply it for free unless you just want to do a test and see how it works.

Ed, thanks for the information. My last conversation with them must have hit home because they realize that I'm not going to fix their stuff for free and I'm not going to submit an insurance claim for something that was already happening beneath the dirt on their siding. I told them I will help them until it looks good, but I won't be held responsible for 10 year old siding that was starting to fade.

I've washed plenty of houses to know that it wasn't my process that gave them undesired results in certain angles and times of the day. I can say that I was 100% honest with them the whole time and worked my butt off for them, so hopefully they at least see that. He wants to be home when we give it our next go, so he asked to schedule for July 12.. I'm okay with that as I will be much more prepared.

Thanks to all for chiming in.

Off topic, but we just did an old painted tile roof that was filthy.

The 12 year old algae ATE the paint. So we come along and clean it, and all the sudden we are the bad guys!

Yes Chris algea/green mold def eats paint on anything; fences, painted foundations, painted cedar shakes, etc. When I see mold on anything but vinyl I know enough to give the warning.
