Wow that's a big roof to be doing for free! Same mix for the asphalt shingled roof, but you better thicken it up some for that pitch.

Thicken it for sure. Use the myristamine oxide, roof butter. It's thick as glue!

Thanks for the input guys, I did a couple of test spots with the mix on this roof and on one I used a 50/50 mix with ammonyx lo; and on the 2nd I used straight SH with ammonyx lo; the first spot gave me some foamy reaction but no cleaning effect, very disappointing; the 2nd spot of straight SH with the am' lo gave me a foamy reaction, after foam cleared shingle was cleaned.. question is? Is the SH I'm getting too weak? or am I screwing up the mix somehow?..

Jose, it's pretty tough to screw the mix up. Your SH is probably too weak, what kind of place are you buying from?

I didn't quite understand your mix ratios, though. Maybe I am just tired.

I stated after your first post that I thought your SH was ,old, weak and NOT up to standards. Try and find a different supplier.

I'm trying to buy my SH from a different place, but it seems like all the places in California get their SH from the same manufacturer... H.A.S.A Inc does anyone know anything about them?..

Until I find a better vendor of SH I'm forced to buy from the same place; I'll just have to increase my SH to water ratio...
Half as strong available.. Good one! Lol

Slow down Jose, I think your mix is way to strong. I think I know what the problem is.....What exactly is in your mix?

I've been using a 50/50 mix; 49% SH and 50% water 1% surfactan.

Looks like your SH is weak I would get it some where else your 50/50 pic should look like your 100% .If you have a strong batch you should get buy with 30 to 35% SH .

Jose you left out a very important ingredient esp. for asphalt shingles. Your mix of 50-50 is to strong but you left out alcohol! It does make a big difference give it a try. I just looked at your photos...the 50/50 I would maybe hit again and leave it for the rain.....try the alcohol!

This is actually asbestos; I don't know if that makes a difference.. I tried alcohol in my previous roof mix of 50/50 and it didn't seem to make a difference; this was a tile roof..

alcohol is a waste of money it does nothing but create dangerous gases. Check with the manufacture and see what percentage the sh is and make sure its atleast 10% or higher. Your test spot of 50/50 mix might need a good rain the see the final result. I still cant believe your doing that roof for no exchange not even a listing in the church bulletin.

I think its a dwell time issue.... the 100% is the best one. Need to find a way to make to 50% hang around a little longer. Are you putting any detergent in the mix to help with the dirt?
