I wet down my first roof this morning, it had direct sun from the get go. Don't be so " anal " for a tempeture. Upon spraying the " love " was smoking and drying up almost instantly. I stopped and sprayed it down with water......without waiting a second I began spraying the solution again....came out great.

Is it best time to clean roofs in the morning? I live in Myrtle Beach the sun inn the afternoon is extremely hot, will the heat have an affect.
If it is TOO hot, simply wet the roof down first with water, then clean.
Chris, I'm detailed anal. Hot for Chicago land might be in the shade for you gators. Roughly at what temperature would you want to first wet the roof?
Let me state my opinion. If I was cleaning my Mom's SHINGLE Roof, I would wet the roof down first, then clean. I think it makes for a nicer looking final product, especially if the chemical starts smoking when it hits the hot roof. That means the roof is too hot. The pre wet roof seems to activate the surfactant better.
Now, we can't always wet every roof down before cleaning, especially here in Tampa.
It simply takes too much extra time, for the current prices we can get.
The very BEST time to clean a shingle roof is soon after a rain, assuming the Sun comes back out.
