Good Luck Phil. You should have no problem. Thankfully you've cleaned enough roofs that nobody can question you, so it should be a breeze to become certified.
Glad to see this post. I hope you are treated better once you are finished and the post announcing you are certified doesn't have to be deleted! I think I'll wait until I've cleaned 50,000 roofs, then that might be enough to even get the blessing from the Roof God himself!

Wow, that post got deleted becuase i asked a simple question. Good God! My whole piont is how are we just giving certifications away without knowing if they know all the ins and outs of safe roof cleaning.
My piont was what wieght does this certification hold.
For me, the certification gives the customer peace of mind, and it is a good marketing tool. I would not apply for certification if I didn't think I was ready, but there are also 2 tests that you have to pass (written and verbal) which I think would suffice for knowing whether or not a person knows how to safely clean a roof, or not.

The final test you have to pass is given by Chris Tucker himself. If you doubt his ability to determine whether or not to certify an individual, perhaps this (Chris's) forum is not the forum for you. Before you ask, I have the utmost faith in Chris's ability to make the decision whether or not to certify someone and if I didn't I'm not arrogant enough to question the owner of the forum. Additionally, if I was unhappy with this forum, I know of forums that are in desperate need of members and current member participation.
Anyone applying for certification in this time frame, is required to know more about roof cleaning and the principles of RCIA, than ANY person in the past. Before, all that was required was a certain number of posts, and MAYBE a test given by someone with an "Instructor" title. The "good ole boy" network played a big part in this process.
Anyone that currently carries a "certification title" will be subject to this testing requirement at the beginning of next year. May hold some surprises for some that think they are the "well educated and experienced" people to be judged against. Time will tell!
Certifications are NOT "just being given away". That is what happened in the past. Now there is some "effort" required by the candidates and some education requirements to fulfill. What was necessary when you got certified? What is required any place else that provides "certification"?, other than a big check to participate!
Anyone that takes offense to the policies of RCIA, as published, should discuss the topics with Chris Tucker and offer your suggestions. NO member, or candidate has ANYTHING to do policies and procedures.
Well everybody has a right to thier opinion and this is mine. Personally i have cleaned over 600 roofs and i still dont think i know everything there is. Can i teach someone how to clean a roof? Yes i can. Can i train someone on ladder safety and how to properly tie off and secure themselve to the roof? Yes i can. Can i mix the chemicals safely that are needed to successfully clean a roof? Yes i can. Do i understand what chemicals not to mix together and what i can mix together? Yes i do.
These are just examples of what i personally know = CERTIFIED. To me all the certification would be is for marketing purposes only.
Question-Are the 50 piont standards part of the certification? If so then that would be in the right direction.
Oddly enough, ever point that you mentioned that you know for certification is covered in the education webinars and also in the written test. I am sure Chris T. Covers a lot more important points in his verbal test. So there you have it!! Every thing you think is important, is covered. You probably will pass the tests with flying colors come January, if you so choose to partipacate.
That's a shame. I think a lot of people will miss the knowledge and comradery you bring to this forum after your certification expires later this year and you quit coming here.
well i still dont get why i wont be here after my certification is up. The only way i wont be here is if i dont pay to be a premium member. Being a premium member is not just about being able to get certified.
True, but if certification isn't worth the time, effort, and money, then being a premium member is likely equally worthless. JMHO.
I disagree Art. A big big difference in the two. I'm questioning the worth of being Certified for $250. Do I get more jobs because I say I am Certified? I don't think so. That would be the only reason to become Certified. Being a Premium Member I can get my SEO help and share info with each other. I think there is a lot more worth in being a premium member than a Certifiable Member....... JMOH

I think we can all agree that Certification is most useful to people starting out. When you're getting started you don't have a lot of pictures and references and a certification can lend a bit of credibility. If y'all want to get personal I'm not in a postition where certification will help me much if at all. I can't get anyone to look at my pictures, or my business license, or my insurance, 'cause they're too busy listening to me tell them how we can improve their home or business. (Once or twice I've wanted to smack a customer with my portfolio so they pay it some attention.) I got certified because it does lend some credibility to a locally unknown home improvement service, $150 goes to the forum, and $50 goes to Chris Tucker. I've definitely gotten enough knowledge from here to make the cert worth paying for. @David-I was being facetious.
