The "is it worth it" thread got me to thinking about a recent job I just lost out on. Wanted to share and get your opinions on pricing.

Just got underbid on a job last month This lovely hotel is located in Tallahassee, Florida. Management company wanted the whole enchilada washed, curbs, sidewalks pool area, grilling gazebos, and of course the building. Hadn't been washed since constructed 5 + years ago.

What do you think would be a fair price to clean this structure. Sorry, pictures are small. Also, roof was NOT included in bid.

I bid $4,500, my best friend who has a larger company with more employees bid over 5K for the same job.....
Guess the price of the winning bid.....
By the way...it took the guy and ONE helper 6 days to complete the project and the hotel was VERY unhappy with the results

I used to get excited about bidding jobs like this. Sadly, the lowest bid wins. During busy season i entertain residential way ahead of commercial.

Six days is ridiculous. Stay in touch with the PM and every so often remind them that there are still professionals in this business. The'll know who to call next time & they probably network with other PM's as well.

to clean that much footage for 2300 bks. ??? Do these company's really think at the end of the day they made a smart choice hiring at such a low, beyond poverty rate. How do the corporate "yes" people sleep at night. It bit them in the end, but it still does not make it right or any better for the guys that lost the job (s).

Ya know I see this all the time with our painting business.What usually happens is the pick the cheapest guy,not looking at anything else other than price. They get a crappy job then label all contractors as doing crappy work.
