That is exactly what we are doing. Both of our trucks have no more hose reels. I simply got sick and tired of replacing swivels and manifolds. We have flat bed trucks, and simply lay the hose in the flatbed between our dual tanks. It looks like chit, but sprays much better, and save us money and breakdowns. I may rig up a hose holder, but we are enjoying better pump performance, and avoiding breakdowns.
I just replaced the manifold on my 18" chemical Reel last week. I went 1 day without the reel and it was a nightmare. Haha! I cannot live without hose reels.

Well, my guys are cleaning roofs every day w/o a hose reel, and do not mind at all.
In fact, my Son stopped me from repairing my hose reel for the upteenth time, he said "Dad, funk those hose reels, and all the leaks and breakdowns, it sprays much better w.o them"!
I just need to have a WELDING SHOP rig me a hose holder, and MY hose reel days are DONE.
Let me OFF the merry go round of buying swivels/manifolds/inside pieces, and all the leaks inherent in them.
Hey Chris , long time no hear and thanks for the help. Also have you noticed longevity in any reels. Stainless or Regular.
No, none of them last US very long, but that's US. We do a lot more everyday roof cleaning work them most people do. Lots of tile roofs too that require stronger chemicals. We rinse faithfully, but still no good results. I am DONE with Hose Reels.
Swivels leak/wear out, manifolds leak and break, screw that. Never again!
The FEWER connections you have working with roof cleaning chemicals, the better!
Plus, when using 5/8 hose with a 1/2 inch hose reel manifold, you just pissed away pressure and flow!
Roof Cleaning is not pressure washing, where you are reeling and ureeling 6 times a day.
Plus, it builds your arms and forearms, and whole upper back pulling that hose
Find me a place to lay 250ft of hose? Plus now I have 2 55gal drums (Not shown in picture) on the back of the trailer for extra chem supply so I don't have to keep running back and forth for more love.

Arrrg! I need a bigger rig. LOL
Throw your wife out of the truck, and put the hose where she USED to sit

Tell her I was just kidding
Oh trust me Chris. She knows you all too well. Besides she knows that I would never throw a Chem hose in the front seat of my new truck. Haha!
Larry, thank god you got a new truck... Those avalanches suck....sorry but iv trashed a few of those trucks. My personal truck is a denali and it looks just like your new truck....well similar.

Hey Chris,..I have to agree,..although I currently use a hose reel that I made ,..and purposely made it to easily repair,...I still consider using 50' sections,..just like I do with my washer. And I may change to "reeless" someday soon myself.

Jeff
I hear ya Jeff! Until someone makes a full PVC reel with a decent size inside manifold, we are not buying anymore of them. With a hose reel, you have 4 seperate connections to go wrong and leak all over. Hose of pump to 90 degree hose barb, hose barb to manifold, manifold to swivel, swivel to ball valve output hose. Why not just eliminate the chit altogether ? It sprays MUCH better w/o all that crap anyway. As long as we keep buying the crap being sold to us, why should the manufacturers change ?
I don't see us ever going to any hose reel, ever again Jeff. I really don't. Leaks RUIN your chit, so why not eliminate the source of the leaks ?
My once beautiful roof cleaning trucks are ruined now, all from leaking POS Hose Reels!
The next money I spend on hose containment will be an Aluminum hose rack with pegs you simply wrap the hose around on in a figure 8 pattern, or something similar maybe. Our dual flatbed trucks have plenty of room to simply lay the hose between the tanks in between jobs.
A couple pieces of 12" long pipe welded to your truck bed would work great. Fairly easy to figure 8 the hose around it, cheap and pretty tough to break.
Ive got a summit reel on my trailer that I dont expect to last much longer. If like to add a reel to the truck. When we clean a roof off of it we have to coil the hose by hand and strap it to the top of the ladder rack. Thats no fun at all.
i have reels on the truck and there mostly just to hold the hose i just unwind it all the way and then hook them up better flow i think only take a few minutes longer.
