I was down there for a launch a couple years ago. What a waste of time. You could barely see it (and when I say barely I mean barely)because of the security you had to stay so far away. About all you could see was the smoke trail.

My neighbor is the head of security there so he gets us in close. And that is still 3 miles away. That's the closest anyone can get to it before it launches. You are right, all of the other places to see it "up close" are about 10-20 miles away.. Even then it still shakes all the windows in homes for miles and miles.. Even more so when it comes back in. If the wind is blowing in from the beach the sonic boom is crazy. Last launch ever is tomorrow at 3:47 pm.,!

Ill get a few pictures tomorrow and put them up. Lets hope our next President funds the shuttle program because 21% of Brevard county jobs have something to do with the space center or space program. And if they all lose their jobs ill be in deep deep doo doo!!

Is it because they don't use gutter canes?

There are some benefits of NASA. I read where properties of metal alloys studied for the space station program will enhance golf clubs. Shape memory metal gives the golfer more control and feel. I can use all the help I can get...LOL

I knew a guy who would buy anything advertised as "Space Age". I didn't have the heart to tell him that the space age started in the 1950's.
