A potential customer mentioned his neighbor had a preventative coating applied. What is being offered out there, anybody using, any experience good or bad?

Paul There is a tom of them out and I personally have not used them, I have heard stories of some of them yellowing and breaking down. Here is one I was looking into-

Here is one Brett was looking into and the rep was really good people.

Just remember the manufacturer may not warranty the roof after the application, I have never asked the sealcoat company's directly, just from the shingle manufacturer web sites.

2 years ago I was told the Roof Guard 101 was about $600 for the mix and the guys were charging about 2k for the whole process.

that's what I have, hope it helps, I have seen it on a roof and looked pretty cool though kinda like a paver sealer would look with a gloss finish. My concern is not allowing the shingles to breathe which may be the reason why manufacturers cancel the warranty's. (?)

The competition was offering a 1.5 year warranty on their protective coating and every year thereafter for $200. I got the job!

Well done Paul.  The competition is using a marketing ploy.  You can beat them at their own game if you choose.

1.5 years? Must be a pressure washer using a copper sulfate protection or something along those lines.
