Chris, I don't like them and never have. We tried to use them for a couple months a couple years ago and they were more hassle than they were worth for us.

Im the exact opposite there... Ive climbed on hundreds of roofs without using standoffs. I finally bought a set last year and I absolutely love them. I feel like the ladder is a whole lot more stable and you dont have to worry about screwing up a homeowners crappy gutters.

Ill have to post a pic of our truck with 2 ladders and standoffs on top. It looks like a mad bull going down the road!

Stand offs show you care about the customers property. Certain situations they get in the way. Flip the ladder backwards. feels weird on ya feet. it works.

I doubt any of us will ever be as good with a ladder as you and your guys Mike.

That ladder slide is something else...

and something you wont see me trying!

One of my workers would call them training wheels for a ladder.

Thats silly. Flip it backwards. Why not just raise it higher so it doesn't come into play if you are to lazy or in to much of a hurry to take it off? Really? Please.

Scott - Have you tried the bolt on standoffs or the quick clip on ones? The bolt on are a PITA, I used them once and hated them. I swore I never would use them again, then I found the quick clip on ones. They take a second to put on and take off. They also breakdown into sections for ease of storage.

Here's the one we use. Made by Werner.

I've only used the bolt ons. I would try the clip on ones if I can find some locally. Thanks for the tip.

I don't worry about OSHA in particular but I do thinks it's good practice to follow OSHA regulations not only so that you're covered if Osha does stop by but also for the safety of you and your guys. I don't care if you do or not, it's just a good practice.
