I have been watching fj fitzpatrick for over a year and have been talking to there sales reps.
what is that floor scrubbing thing they got on the roofs? is it called a pitch witch?
if so isnt that still a form of power washing?
ive been involved with the high up's in the company, but i never say a word waiting for a meeting to sell out with full time employment. but not making any moves.

I have seen the ads looks like that thing would be doing some damage to roofs but they are a large company that repairs and replaces roofs so I dont think they are to concerned if they do some damage having a larger company in our area could be good and bad they are doing the advertising and getting the thought in peoples heads, but the other side is people know the name and might opt to go with them because they trust the name
I'm usually coming in at a third of their price and still making a great profit. The best part is they are doing all the costly advertisement for me (TV and radio commercials)

Thats my thoughts tehy are getting the word out and we can do it cheaper
becuase $800 for a 1300 sq ft house is rediculous. They use a surface cleaner and it takes them twice as long to do a job. Its not lowballing its just professionalism and respect.
Rediculous to who? And based on what? The industry standard? My biggest local competitor thinks that me charging .15-.20 a square foot is rediculous and he charges half that sometimes. Its all perspecitve. If EVERYBODY charged $800 for that house, it wouldnt be rediculous, it would be "local industry standard".
So why not match it and outsell them? You sound like the lowballers we all fight against.
Scott, Here was the three estimates on a 20sq. roof ( they wanted the front side only cleaned which = 20sq.) Everyone bid on the same roof area.
The company in the discussion = $1900
Landis Roof Cleaning = $800 plus I told her we would do the gutters
The real "lowballer"= $400
So I would not consider myself the low baller here. I think I was being very generous to myself with these numbers and still resonable to the Homeowner considering the 9/12 and 12/12 pitch's.

Barry, I prospect slightly east of you and if you're charging about a third less we're both in the same ballpark.
Scott, the homes I've prospected the past 2 weeks range from $300-$900 for the same house. I don't have a large enough sample size yet to determine what my closing ratio is but I'd like to close 60% of my estimates. If my current pricing structure yields 60% than I'll stick with it, if not I'll adjust accordingly.
I agree with you fellas from up north 'cause it's not good to be too greedy, but doesn't Scott have a valid point? It seems like it might be OK to creep your price up closer to theirs. I never went to college or businees school, but I'd try to milk the situation for what I could. The fact that you can do it in 1/2 the time it takes them is simply a benefit of doing things the "RCIA" way. I'd creep up towards 75% of their price & smile every time I deposited a check.
