My First Roof Testing the mix
Permalink

Today I sprayed my own roof not very dirty but getting an idea of the mix and the flow

The Mix

13 Gallons SH (thinks its a little weak got it from a pool supply and the season is early here)

3 quarts Ultra Purex Alpine scent for cold water( to give it some stick not needed for my rancher but I am testing) I was not to happy with the sudsing had to get kinda close with the sprayer to get any sudz

27 gallons water

The equipment

Fatboy with nozzle size 040 (think I need to move up to the 050 nozzles

The results

Not much run off and about 10 gallons of mix left not much bleach smell

I had a small suprise after I sprayed My roof was worse than it apeared

I was going to rinse as I did not think my roof was very dirty but as it is supposed to rain tommorow i will wait and get some after picks After the rain rinse

The last 5 picks are pre-spray and post spray Pics 3 4 and 5 are the same section 3 and 4 are before 5 is after pic 6 is a pre spay and pic 7 is a post spray same section

Great first one!, and just spraying one gives a little insight to how everything you have read comes into play out in the field. Now time to start getting some paying jobs.
Best of luck to you !

Not surprised you got some results on a roof you didn't think was that dirty.

A couple of comments on your ladder. That's not the safest place to place the ladder and you should be using a ladder stabilizer.

Stay safe.

I've found that laundry detergents, especially the Purex, do the best job of killing the smell, but they are poor at adding cling. Locally, Dawn dish soap works best. If you want something more industrial, you can use, Ammonyx Lo, Talon, or Blue Boost. 3 quarts is A LOT for that mix. With the dawn you could use 30 oz or so.

thanks Scott it did take the smell so I might keep it in there but I will try the dish detergent because the main concern is Cling not needed for my roof but really need something to stick 3 quarts is a lot but i was expecting less cling but not that much less

Careful putting too much stuff in there, those small costs can really eat into profits. Good job on your first roof...I love seeing guys jump right in. You can call me if you ever need anything. 713 817 0322
